3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
14.9 oz. can. Appearance: beautiful nitro cascade, creamy eggnog-white finger sized head, copper red color, clear, great lacing. Aroma: caramel, toasty, cereal, pine, very earthy. Palate: medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Taste: medium sweetness, lightly bitter. Overall, beautiful looking beer in my opinion, just not everything else it should be though.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pint at Dukes of Perth. Reddish pour. Tons of creamy head. Malty earth and dirt taste. Slightly fruity and raisin notes. Nothing special but nothing wrong with it

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nitro-can to pint glass: Pours a gentle somewhat dark brown with an adequate one finger white head that drops at a nice pace; Rich English malts grace the nose pretty well; the taste is pretty much the same along with a rich malty sweet aftertaste, quick English malty finish; overall; good Scottish Ale that I would have again, probably go exceptionally well with a nice vegetable and beef stew

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
Poured to glass clear amber hue with thick off white head that lingered about 1 finger. Aroma is clean, lager-like, floral, slightly nutty. Mouthfeel is creamy smooth but somewhat lacking in depth...bordering watery. Taste is dry with a slight hop bitterness in the finish. Overall, this was an interesting brew but I was left wanting a bit more depth and complexity.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Half liter clear bottle from Harris Teeter Barracks Charlottesville, opened 11/19/13. Pours a clear red-amber color with a medium sized frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Caramel and tea aromas behind a heavy mask of skunkiness. The taste is caramel malts, earthy hops, mild raisin and chocolate. Medium bodied. 50th Scottish ale!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
In bottle, I think the raters on this beer are too use to extreme beers. The Belhaven Scottish Ale is well-balanced and a well-made beer. (They’ve only had nearly 200 years to perfect the recipe.) It pours out a light Coca-Cola color, the aroma is hoppy, earthy, cereal. Light on the caramel malt (it’s 5.2% ABV; not the 8+% ABV in the "wee heavy Scotch version) and the CO2 carries the flavors through to the finish. Notice the yeast sediments on the bottom of each 12-oz bottle! They must be doing something right to still be around 300 years later!

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
[Bottle (500ml)] Pours a deep orange-amber with an average size semi-lasting frothy off-white head. Mild aroma of sweet bready malt, fruit, light vegetal notes and light grassy hops -- decent. Flavour of bready caramel malt, fruit, nuts and light grassy hops. Short, light bitter finish. Average bodied. Average beer, there’s nothing bad it’s just a bit dull.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
It was nothing outstanding about this beer but I didn’t mind it either. I could drink it as a decent session beer.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Not as buttery of a flavor/palate as I was expecting. Nice toasted malt flavors and very smooth.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This beer has a nice amber hue with an off white head. It has a slightly sweet malty aroma which I enjoyed. It is pretty light and easy to drink. Oddly there’s a bit of a herbal hoppy flavor, not at the front or back, but in the middle of the palate.
I loved the taste and aroma of this beer; this is a 4 star beer if it has just a little more body. It is a little lighter than I prefer so I deducted half a star.
