COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
bottle, US export version
Malty and hoppy, we at Belhaven love the classic Scottish Ale and we’ve been brewing it longer than any of the other beers we produce. Delivering a sweet, smooth and creamy finish, Scottish Ale has a stunning ruby colour in the glass. Magic.

Bottled, US (5.2%) version. Kind of smells like pot, carbonic acid, mushroom. Slightly sweet body, corny, stale, dull. Ashy and scummy. Not so good.

I got the draught version in a can. Little to on smell. It poured wonderfully though. As I poured it into the glass the it was a creamy color and slowly settled into a dark brown clear liquid. It was almost cascading. The head it formed was creamy and lasted until I was finished with the beer but sadly the flavor was very mild. The ale was like the head creamy all the way down. It was a very interesting drink to have and I would recomend to anybody watch it be poured.

12 ounce bottle purchased at The Davis Beer Shoppe. Aroma is mildly sweet, with light caramel. Light peat. Some toast, too. Not much else. Ok. Transparent amber body with a small, cream-colored head. Starts with a fair amount of malt sweetness, before this becomes a little husky and grainy in the middle. More toastiness. Finishes with a mild bitterness. Pretty straight-forward, and not too exciting.

Can. Pours clear brown with good, creamy white head. Aroma is cereal and cookie malts, toffee, floral hops, and faint berries. Flavor is sweet malts, light hop bitterness, and some light woody notes; dry finish. Creamy, medium body and low carbonation.

From a bottle, aroma of fruity hops and caramel. Beautiful deep amber color. Taste is sweet, caramel, bitterness and a little sour. The finish is bitter at the back of the mouth and very brief. There is a slightly odd flavor that I cannot identify. Not unpleasant, but not truly satisfying either. To be honest, I have very little experience with Scottish ales, so I may be off on my expectations.
