3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
2 x 330ml bottles from B&M, Gateshead, poured the first carefully into an English pint, the second was used to top up and refresh the head. First issue, and you can see from the illustration, this is not a "stunning ruby colour", and decanting it into the glass doesn’t change the rather pleasing clear deep amber body. Nice tight white head though, made for a nice looking pint. Aroma of almondbread, and rusty water. Flavour is predominantly caramel toffee with a hint of medicinal cough drop. A bit thin, slightly slick, but ultimately, disappointing: and I had hopes...

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Light amber, low head retention, medium carbonation. Caramel, malty aroma and flavor, dry, crisp. A very good example of a Scottish Ale. Delicious.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nitro can. Very pretty while pouring and after. The primary taste of this is somewhere between caramel and toffee. Low hop, very smooth palate. Lovely. It isn’t an American rendition of a Scottish ale, which I think is a bit of a pastiche of the real thing.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Aroma. Hazelnut. Malty. A little astringent. Like ummmmm some kind of candy. Lemon drops maybe.
Looks good. Filtered. Good head. Nice amber red. A very nice looking beer.
Taste is light. Subtle grape note. Peaty. Wheaty. Malty. Dry so dry. Hops.... Not really any hop note. Maybe some coming through with a subtle bitterness.
Palate is dry. Smooth. Light.
Overall not a bad beer. I would put it at a light beer but a good light beer. Like Bette than new castle. Scotch ale notes are subtle. Solidly ok.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very malty aroma: nuts, caramel, biscuit. Really enjoyable. The beer is reddish amber, clear and a little bit sparkling. Head is ok: white, but doesn’t last for too long. It’s very sweet with a little addition of hops’s flavour. Very soft, balanced taste with a subtle bitterness. Carbonation is lively but not excessive. I love it :)
