500ml bottle. Dark brown with lasting off-white head. Aroma doesn’t yield that much. Dark malt, with effort some liquorice. Thin in taste, sweet cola-like. Somewhat mainstream adjusted. Overrated in my opinion.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a small beige head. Nose is heavy on roast malt, chocolate, light coffee, some lactic notes. Palate is full with a stingy note and a filmy finish. Flavors of roasted malt, dark chocolate notes, and light malted milk notes.

Looks a bit insipid in the glass, the small white head has diminished very quickly. The aroma makes up the appearance, all he malt notes you would expect from a stout and great hop and yeast action as well; coffee, chocolate, burn toast, molasses, leather, cinnamon, pepper, spruce. Taste of sweet alcohol, with dry bitter hop finish of good length. Palate oily. A great drop, I’ve discovered a love of Belhaven.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 maneliquor (1188) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JAN 6, 2012
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Very dark brown pour with a small, lightly tanned head. Aroma is pleasant but quite subdued. Light chocolate, roasted malts, a touch of coffee, and a touch of piney hops on the finish. Roasted malts at the forefront of the taste, followed quickly by a mish mash of mocha. Dry, bitter finish. Solid. Perhaps if it weren’t in a clear bottle, it might be better after its travels
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 MacMoney (410) - Espoo, FINLAND - JAN 5, 2012
Clear bottle. Oh dear. Pours a very dark cola brown with an auburn tinge and a medium, beige head. Aroma is... skunk. This is the point when I realize that it is actually a clear bottle that I’ve bought and it really brings me down. The aroma is very skunked. You can sense some cocoa and coffee and roasted malts underneath. Taste is a bit skunked as well, but mostly roasted, cocoa, some chocolate and coffee, a bit of an oaty character as well. Some flowery hops at the end. Palate is oily. Clearly it would be a good drink, if it weren’t in a clear bottle and hence lightstruck. Too damn bad.
