(Bottle at St. Urho’s Pub, Helsinki, on 2009-08-06) Black. Tan coloured, medium sized and dense head. Chocolate and roastedness in aroma. Full bodied, lightly creamy and dry palate with medium carbonation. Roastedness, chocolate, coffee, bitterness, malts, lightly sweetness and liquorice in taste. Chocolate and roastedness in aftertaste. Way better than the version served from keg.

This dark brown stout poured with a fluffy tan head and a strong chocolate aroma. The head went away but the aroma didn’t. The flavor is rich chocolate with lots of carbonation and a dry hoppy finish. It’s a nice dessert beer.

Bottle from Corti Bros. in Sacramento, CA. Pours rather like cola with a decent tan head. Aroma is chocolate over mild, dark malt. Near medium body with fizzy/frothy carbonation. Flavor is darkish chocolate with some dark malt bitter or maybe it’s from hop. Finishes quite dark and pretty dry. Rather tasty.

Pours nearly solid black with a nice creamy tan head. Aroma is lightly toasted chocolate malt. Drinks very smooth with chocolate tones and butter. Finishes with a bit of a dark chocolate bitterness.

Pours a deep black color with a thick tan head, leaving a light web lace. Aroma of sweet roasted malts, cocoa, and coffee. The taste is about the same with a slight hop bitterness. The malt is very sweet and plays on your tounge. Then the hops bounce around and leave a slight bitter note. This beer starts very malty and has a surprise hop balance. Well done, good brew.

The beer pours out a motor oil black color, huge 3" light tan/newspaper gray color. No light getting thru. Aroma starts out metallic. After a few minutes of breathing it opens up to a medium mocha aroma, with a touch of smoke and some light sour notes. Flavor has some light malt sugar, coffee & cream flavors, and a smidge of dark chocolate. Very restrained. Enjoyable though.

from Amstein - dark black colour with a solid creamy beige foam; aroma of cold coffee and cocoa with notes of vanilla; quite full-bodied and with some swetness, slightly bitter with long notes of black chocolate in the aftertaste - not really complex but quite pleasant

the flavors of smoke, wood and even jerky flavors are consistant. the malts are dark and rich with a little but effective hop flavors. smooth palate. would go great with beef dishes.
