3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This dark brown stout poured with a fluffy tan head and a strong chocolate aroma. The head went away but the aroma didnít. The flavor is rich chocolate with lots of carbonation and a dry hoppy finish. Itís a nice dessert beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Corti Bros. in Sacramento, CA. Pours rather like cola with a decent tan head. Aroma is chocolate over mild, dark malt. Near medium body with fizzy/frothy carbonation. Flavor is darkish chocolate with some dark malt bitter or maybe itís from hop. Finishes quite dark and pretty dry. Rather tasty.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a deep black color with a thick tan head, leaving a light web lace. Aroma of sweet roasted malts, cocoa, and coffee. The taste is about the same with a slight hop bitterness. The malt is very sweet and plays on your tounge. Then the hops bounce around and leave a slight bitter note. This beer starts very malty and has a surprise hop balance. Well done, good brew.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
The beer pours out a motor oil black color, huge 3" light tan/newspaper gray color. No light getting thru. Aroma starts out metallic. After a few minutes of breathing it opens up to a medium mocha aroma, with a touch of smoke and some light sour notes. Flavor has some light malt sugar, coffee & cream flavors, and a smidge of dark chocolate. Very restrained. Enjoyable though.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
from Amstein - dark black colour with a solid creamy beige foam; aroma of cold coffee and cocoa with notes of vanilla; quite full-bodied and with some swetness, slightly bitter with long notes of black chocolate in the aftertaste - not really complex but quite pleasant

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
The aroma is very toasted with chocolate, coffee, and sugar. The appearance is dark brown with a foamy head. The flavor is like the aroma with a bitter soapy finish. The palate is smooth. Overall this is a good stout and interesting but not great.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
500ml bottle. Deepest shade of brown-black, thick beige head. Mellow sweet roasty aroma. Creamy, rich chocolate taste with some delicate hop bitterness. Excellent balance. The alcohol content goes unnoticed, any warmth perfectly combined with the bitter hops and chocolate. Mellow carbonation. An awesome beer.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(bottle) Black coloured hue with a dense and massive brown foamy head. Slightly dust and quite sweet roasty malt aroma with a tinge of red berries, caramel and cacao. Sweet-bitter flavour, medium to full bodied with a soft carbonation. Moderately roasted malty base with notes of caramel, chocolate, berry fruits and syrupy molasses; sweet and slightly burnt bitter finish with notes of alcohol. The stronger brother of McCallums Stout, also too sweet for my liking (14.VII.09).
