Dark brown pour that appears black in glass with beige head. Chocolate and coffee is prominent. Somewhat thin body. Wouldnt buy again.

Bottle from a local store. The Scottish Stout smells malty with coffee and roast aroma. It pours very dark brown with a minimal and fast vanishing head. The taste is sligtly sweet with a strong roasty flavor of coffee and finishes with a hoppy bitterness.

Had this in a bottle. Not a big fan of the cans with a wigget inside. A rich amber brew with ruby high lights a decent size head with good carbonation. Smells of butterscotch malt, low hop bouquet that’s earthy smelling. Sweeter tasting malts with a very subtle hint of grains and biscuit maybe even a tad nutty. Has a dry finish. Soft tasting and smooth some cloying that coats the tongue a little. Very drinkable, good for a long session. Fantastic fall colored beer with a good foam head through out the session with lacing all the to the bottom.

Bottle. Black colour, small beige head with poor lacing. Nose is faint, with surprisingly large amount of caramel. Mouth is much better: also some caramel, but with strong roasted malt and a bit ash. Light bitterness, but also a bit of sweetness, which I don’t like. Medium body. Quite ok, but there are better stouts.

Clear, dark brown colour. Minimal but long lasting, beige head. Aroma of malt, coffee with milk and little chocolate. Light bitterness. Medium sweetness. Taste is chocolate, roasted malt and coffee. Soft to medium carbonation. Good, drinkable stout.

Flasche von Getränke Töpper, Berlin-Moabit. - Tiefschwarz, feinporiger hellbrauner Schaum.

Actually it’s a "foreign extra stout" according to its high ABV. Aroma of nuts, vanilla, toffee and chocolate with some fleeting hints of mature fruits. Less dark than the the "classical" stout with a not persistent tan foam. It’s surely sweet but absolutely not in a sickening way: the perfect balance between malt and hops makes it so drinkable. Average carbonation, very creamy, long lasting and complex finish. A wonderful beer indeed! Just in the middle between a stout and an imperial one. P.S. Transparent bottle? Really?!

The aroma is quite faint, malty and roasty, with metallic notes. Pours black with a small head that dissipates immediately. Low bitterness, some sourness, next to no sweetness at all. Body halfway between low and medium, carbonation above average, a little bit of spice, and a very faint, tart finish. Overall not bad, certainly not special.

500 ml bottle into snifter, bottled on 12/20/2011. Pours pitch black color with a 2 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, molasses, toast, dark bread, toffee, herbal, raisin, plum, and roast/yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt and light-moderate yeast ester notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, toast, molasses, dark bread, herbal, raisin, plum, and roast/yeast earthiness. Fair amount of herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, roast, coffee, toast, molasses, dark bread, herbal, raisin, plum, and roast/yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic balance, complexity, and robustness of dark/roasted malt and light-moderate yeast ester flavors; with an awesome roasted malt bitterness/sweetness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, moderately creamy, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome English stout! All around great complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt and light-moderate yeast ester flavors; and extremely smooth to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.
