Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours black with orange glints and a creamy light tan head. Aroma of treacle and arguably chocolate. Med body, nearly. Flavor is like aroma, except the malt seems slightly smoky. Finishes lightly, treacly sweet.

Dark in colour, sweeter and creamier than a Guinness. Kind of milky texture. Not bad.

Comes out of the tap almost Guinness-like: opaque coffee brown with a thick, persistent, fine-bubbled light tan head. Aroma is not strong, but has a good roast malty component and a hint of licorice. Flavor has a robust smoky malt component plus notes of licorice, molasses and subtle caramel. Exceptionally smooth texture has average texture, not a lot of fizz. Still, a decent little Scottish stout.

Draft into mug. Opaque black, fine cream head. Dull in the mouth, almost bland. Hint of milk and chocolate, but I have to concentrate to get even that. Nice soft mouth feel though. Curious early finishing note of black licorice, otherwise dull finish. Disappointing and boring.

Super dark, smooth, foamy head, and quite delicious. Had it in tap at Minetta Tavern in NYC. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nitro draft at Fermentation. Deep brown pour with a creamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and light smoke. Flavor of tart dark fruits, smoke, chocolate and roast. Light bodied with a quick smoky finish.

Aroma: A dry smell, burned wood, roasted malt. Not very distinct.
Appearance: The beer is black with a red hue, a tan firm head, little lacing and some curtains.
Taste: Good chocolate sweetness, a fruity sweet freshness, slightly smokey.
Palate: Little carbonation, soft and smooth, a fresh feeling with a light dry finish.
Overall: A nice *porter*, not the stoutish dryness.

This beer was just ok it looked the part of a stout but it had an alcohol flavor that overpowers the beer
