Tap at Deep Ellum. Medium head that took forever to die down. Very mild aroma of some coffee and chocolate notes. Very blah flavor with no body. Not a good beer

Nitro at Deep Ellum. Aroma somewhat vegetal and metallic with very light hints of chocolate. Flavor again uninspiring, just basic sweet malt. Rather watery. Big meh.

(Nitro) Pours a cascading opaque black body with a thick creamy beige head. Aroma of dark fruit, roasted malt, and caramel. Flavor of peat, roasted malt, nuts, raisins, and prunes with a creamy mouthfeel.

Nitro Tap. Pours with a milky, off-white head and a dark-dark brown body. Aroma of coffee, raisins, nuts, nutmeg, figs and persimmon cake. Taste is chocolate, raisins, nuts, brown sugar and light coffee. Lots of stuff on the nose and tongue for a low alcohol nitro tap beer!

Pours a dark black brown color with reddish highlights and a creamy tan head. Notes of raisins, dark fruits, caramelized brown sugar. Just very sweet and dark. Nose sucks and you get a bit of graham and sweetness but the taste is pretty solid.

Nitro pour at Ginger Man. Black beer with a thick off-white/tan head. Aroma is lightly cocoaish with a light touch of estery sweetness as well. A light cherry fruit over some decently roasty maltiness. Very smooth palate. As I go through this, the beer actually gets a bit simpler and less tasty. A little bit of lingering cocoa on the back.

   AROMA 6/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 7/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 13/20
crazyvin (1858) - New York, USA - FEB 8, 2009
on tap at the Gingerman, poured a nice brown hue with a tan head that had some retention. Aroma was of sweet malts, some chocolate and a dried fruit note. Flavor was all sweet malts mostly a chocolate note. A somewhat smoky backbone but otherwise a very one dimenisonal stout. Finish was rich and creamy and the beer went to with ease.

Pretty sweet. Not much roastiness at all. Not terribly impressive. Not my idea of a stout but whatever.

A nice mouthfeel is the highlight of this stout. Otherwise, sorta pedistrian.
