Tap @ Pazzeria, Milan. Very dark brown colour, big foamy head. Coffee malt aroma. Liquorice flavour. Sour aftertaste. Not my sort of beer.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
[Keg at the Hill House, Happisburgh, Norfolk] Astonished to find this in a remote coastal village in Norfolk - Iíve never seen it anywhere else, how on earth did it get here?! Pours brown-black with a large beige head. Thereís lots of plum and smoke, some smooth chocolate. All the ingredients for a decent beer are there, and itís surprisingly full of flavour for keg, but somehow the flavours didnít quite work out together for me. Donít know why, but I didnít like it, even though I felt I should have. Sorry.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Replacement for my infected Left Hand 3400 Pound Monkey :(. Actually a very good stout, just not really too appropriate for the dog days of Japanese summer. Rich, creamy medium roastiness. Well put together and good flavour projection for an otherwise typical macro beer. Pretty darn good - for winter...

UPDATED: MAY 9, 2013 Served on nitro at Beer Run. Pours a clear dark brown color with a medium sized frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of sweet malts, roasted malts, caramel and chocolate. The taste is roasted malts, chocolate, cocoa and mild bitter hops. Medium bodied. Nice. 50th Scottish rating!

At first i thought oh no just another guinness but oh no this is not that at all if i had to compare it Iíd say its s similar to a Youngs double chocolate but with more flavor. Perfect head. Great depth. One of my favorites if not my favorite stout.

5 oz. sample at The Pub in Dayton, pours black with medium dark brown highlights. Thick small bubble lacing, medium body, well carbonated, rocky texture, and very light roasted malt aroma. Tates is roasted malt and finishes light bitter hops. Would rather have Youngís Double Chocolate Stout.

This was the best chocolate stout Iíve ever had, bar none. The head had an amazing chocolate and coffee aroma and was powerful on the palate. Yum.

Black pour, medium off-white milkshake head. Aroma is lightly roasty but overall sort of faint. Flavor is sweet and roasty, with a very smooth and creamy mouthfeel.
