Pours dark amber with a proportionate head. The nose has toffee and malt. The taste is very much sweet toffee with some malt astringency. The palate is medium bodied and textured with a slightly cloying finish. Overall, nothing special.

Had out of a cask at World’s End in Edinburgh. Really disappointing considering how much I enjoy most of Belhaven’s other beers.

aroma, old ale, malt, grainy, got on tap, at Scottland run golf course, nice amber hue good frim head though, taste, malty lacking robustness, little to no hop profile,at little watery, overall, good for a thirsty drinker and of course on has to step back from a nice place like this to really rate a beer well, a nice setting can play tricks on your palate!

Crosse Keys Spoons. Clear amber beer. Residual white head. Light dry palate. Low carbonation. Boiled sweets with a trace of hop bitterness. Mild toffee malt underneath. Finishes dry with an unexpected smoky note.

Pour Cooper clear, with a small white head. Aroma of honey, a bit of citrus. A little bready. Slightly bitter, as you expected. Also really flat, also what you expected. Malty notes. Pretty standard for this kind of esb.

Cask at the Webb Ellis (JDW, Twickenham). Light malty spicy nose with just a touch of phenol, chewy malty body with a slight citrussy tartness and a hoppy finish with a hint of peach.

Hand pulled cask at the Moon and Sixpence (JDW) Hatch End. Amber/brown with a thick off white collar. Predominantly dry malt with a hint of diacetyl and gentle English hops. Very easy to drink and better than I expected.
