A stunning India Pale Ale (IPA), don’t think that Belhaven’s Twisted Thistle has anything jaggy, spikey, prickly or otherwise pain-inflicting in its nature. Quite the opposite. Your taste buds will tingle with pleasure after a sip or two of this golden nectar. A real treat from our master brewers in Dunbar.
Ingredients: Pale malt, Cascade and Challenger hops.

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2014 Not my favourite IPA. Low ABV for an IPA (5.6%). Rather limited hop aroma, taste and bitterness.

Bottle at home. A dark brown colour, perhaps a touch of gold. Pours with a little head.

Very mixed reviews on this one and I don’t understand why. Belhaven are far beyond the coolest brand out there but sometimes simple beer is the best. Why eat bread when you can have caviar all the time? Cos bread can be as good at the right time. Malty, hoppy balanced IPA. Nothing mind blowing here folks but get your mates round for the football, serve this up with some pizza and chill the funk out. Nice herbs on the nose, simple flavours on the tounge and inviting feel on the palate that makes you want to keep slurping. Not terrible not particularly memorable but really drinkable. Not trendy, so that makes it cool in my mind. 500ml bottle, good sheet!

Piana biała, drobno i średnio pęcherzykowa, bardzo szybko opada. Kolor złoty. W aromacie słodko-kwiatowe nuty i cytrusy. W smaku grejfrut, amerykańskie chmiele i lekka goryczka. Wysycenie średnie.

330ml bottle. Aroma is light hops, light grain. Appearance is clear, dark orange with a fast decreasing brown-ish head. Taste is very light bitter, and light sour. A light dry aftertaste, a bit metallic. Overall disappointing.

Idealnie klarowne, złote piwo o nietrwałej pianie. W aromacie owocowe z nutą karmelową. W smaku wyraźnie słodowe, delikatnie "cukierkowe" z niską ziołową goryczką. Wysoce pijalne.

Flaske, 33 cl. Klar ravgylden, lavt off-white skum. Engelsk i malten, new world i humlen. Sødlig, toasted, karamel, let toffee, dåsefersken, appelsin, tropisk frugt. Medium bitter, ok.

Amber body and stable head. Grapefruit hops, biscuit malts, tomato compote strangely. Well developed, nicely brewed. Quite classic in malts, but that’s no problem. Bit too light perhaps. (33cl bottle from Saveur Bière)

Bottle. Pours golden amber with a white head. Lemon, light malt aroma. Light to medium body, medium carbonation. Light pine, lemon, grass, sponge cake... OK. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml Bottle. Poured in a my favorite Grimbergen glass. Very decent IPA. This is the second beer that I get from Belhaven and, like the first one, it’s not disappointing at all. a: Clear yellow gold color. Thin white head. s: Fresh hops. Nevertheless, more discrete than a regular American IPA. t: Dry and bitter (as is should be :)). Fresh malt and moderate alcohol. m: Hop taste in the end. Leaves a reasonable bitterness in the tong. d: For the ones that like bitters and IPAs like me, this would be a pleasure. [ BA Review @ 11/24/2009 ]

Poured with no head. A pleasant beer. Not as much aroma as I expected but a well balanced British IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
