A stunning India Pale Ale (IPA), don’t think that Belhaven’s Twisted Thistle has anything jaggy, spikey, prickly or otherwise pain-inflicting in its nature. Quite the opposite. Your taste buds will tingle with pleasure after a sip or two of this golden nectar. A real treat from our master brewers in Dunbar.
Ingredients: Pale malt, Cascade and Challenger hops.

Leighton (11841) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 10, 2014
Bottle shared in London. Pours totally clear gold with a foamy white head. The aroma holds doughy pale bread with nips of white grape and white citrus. Medium sweet flavor with grainy pale bread, vague citrus, hay. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Moderately sugary bready malt finish, some husky grains, candied sugars, bitter straw. OK.

Bottle shared at Leightons pre Christmas tasting. Clear golden/ orange coloured pour with a halo of off white head. Aroma is chive, hedgerow hop, little skunk, chive hop. Little diacetyl. Flavour is composed of nutty caramel malts, berry / hedgerow hops. Little soapy and floral and highish carbonation. Grassy hop.

This bottle is so old it’s still 5.3% (I actually don’t know when they made the switch, but I assume). Pour is a pretty dark gold with no head. Nose is....weirdly like smelling Labatt Blue. More reason for me to assuming this is an old bottle. Taste is a sweet fruity malt with a moderately bitter finish. There is absolutely NOTHING distinctive here, to my palate. And yet....this is weirdly quaffable.

Gold clear color with little foam. Sweetish taste with little bitterness yet hoppy and very well carbonated. This is a very nice balanced beer.

Piana: ładna drobna, redukuje się do kożuszka, dobry lacing; Aromat: słód i drożdże, lukrecja; Smak: słodowy, toffi, ciasteczkowy, metaliczny posmak; Odczucie: puste, bardzo słodkie, zero goryczki; Ogólnie: co to za IPA bez goryczki?? raczej amber ale.

Very mixed reviews on this one and I don’t understand why. Belhaven are far beyond the coolest brand out there but sometimes simple beer is the best. Why eat bread when you can have caviar all the time? Cos bread can be as good at the right time. Malty, hoppy balanced IPA. Nothing mind blowing here folks but get your mates round for the football, serve this up with some pizza and chill the funk out. Nice herbs on the nose, simple flavours on the tounge and inviting feel on the palate that makes you want to keep slurping. Not terrible not particularly memorable but really drinkable. Not trendy, so that makes it cool in my mind. 500ml bottle, good sheet!

Piana biała, drobno i średnio pęcherzykowa, bardzo szybko opada. Kolor złoty. W aromacie słodko-kwiatowe nuty i cytrusy. W smaku grejfrut, amerykańskie chmiele i lekka goryczka. Wysycenie średnie.
