A stunning India Pale Ale (IPA), don’t think that Belhaven’s Twisted Thistle has anything jaggy, spikey, prickly or otherwise pain-inflicting in its nature. Quite the opposite. Your taste buds will tingle with pleasure after a sip or two of this golden nectar. A real treat from our master brewers in Dunbar.
Ingredients: Pale malt, Cascade and Challenger hops.

Aroma: yum! Different hops that all come together beautifully. Biscuity malt. Delicious. Somewhat soapy and neste-like. Definitely my type of aroma. Very faint scent of liquorice.
Flavour: Initially sweet and reminiscent of cookies – in a delicious way. Mild hop bitterness kicks in and makes it a very palatable albeit mild beer. I think of getting inside a cosy cabin at winter, fresh baked cookies and some fluffy beer. Some of that liquorice again, and it doesn’t fit the taste as well as the aroma. Slightly roasted aftertaste. Overall much breadier than expected.
Appearance: Clear, yellowish orange body w/ some pale, frothy head.
Palate: Fluffy, delicious.

Pours a nice golden with a small white head that leaves good lacing. Nose is surprisingly not too skunked for such a clear bottle stored near a window at a local SAQ. It offers some caramel and fruity, earthy hops. Taste is lightly sweet and not really bitter... bummer. Caramel and light syrup make up most of the flavor with some light earthy flavors in the finish. Finish does offer some bitterness but it isn’t really up to the level one would expect from an IPA. Body is medium, mouthfeel slightly oily and carbonation moderately low. Bah.

Bottle 0,33l. Pours gold, foamy white head with decent lacing. Aroma has sweet fruit. Flavour has very subtle hops, mostly sweet malty notes, some citrus. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Flaska hemma. Luktar spya smakar inte mycket. Inte helt klar vilket jag gillar men annars är det inte mycket att hänga i granen. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Gulbrun farge med hvitt skum. Lukter humle, karamell og grapefrukt. Denne er noe kort i ettersmaken. Bitter.

Golden orange, weak head. Weak aroma, sticky malts, cerealy, some hops. Taste is just very mellow, and just not interesting, some hops, cerealy sweet malts, a bit of herby input from the hop more than citrus.

Gulbrun klar i fargen med høyt hvitt skum. Sydhavsfrukter, grape og lett karamell. Søt og bitter smak av frukt og humle. Frisk IPA med kort ettersmak

Pours a clear amber color. It’s topped with a small white head that immediately disappears until nothing is left. The aroma is mild, just some pleasant citrusy hops can be picked up. The taste is a complete opposite. Starts with a slight sweetness that immediately turns to a decent bitterness. Finish is even more bitter and slight spices can be also felt. Aftertaste just lasts and lasts - bittery and spicy. A very nice beer. Despite strong finish, still nicely enjoyable.

330ml bottle. Small bubbly white head disappears quickly. No lacing. Clear amber colour. Nose is grass, straw and light hops. Flavour is caramel, biscuit, citrus, grass. Decent bite in the mouthfeel, lively carbonation - a bit too much for my liking. A solid if unspectacular IPA.

Had this from the tap. Not so great IPA. Smoky aromas and grape fruit. Kind of unbalanced.
