A stunning India Pale Ale (IPA), don’t think that Belhaven’s Twisted Thistle has anything jaggy, spikey, prickly or otherwise pain-inflicting in its nature. Quite the opposite. Your taste buds will tingle with pleasure after a sip or two of this golden nectar. A real treat from our master brewers in Dunbar.
Ingredients: Pale malt, Cascade and Challenger hops.

Bottle. Pours amber clear with small head that is quickly minimized to small ring, head leaves nice lacing on the glass. Aroma consist of caramel, grass a little hints of fruits and pine (very delicate). Medium body and carbonation. Taste is malty, bit sweet with a medium bitter finish. I was surprised that it taste more like an english ipa though it was hopped ith cascade and chalanger. In summary it’s a medium ipa.

Like every second average IPA you’ve ever had, but foamier and too sweet. Certainly not good.

Bottle at home. Pours clear golden with a white head. Aroma of malts, grainy, citrus, light hops, caramel, a hint of metal. Taste is herbal, malty, caramle, grainy, rather sweet. Light bitter finish. Very generic and boring..

Bottle from Seiyu. Light citrus notes and stone fruit on the nose. Average to above average carbonation. Malty sweetnes with more peach with a slight grainy texture. Grassy hops with some strong bitterness on the finish. British IPA that is pretty nondeScript.

From Carrefour Huelva. In Teku glass. Playing Millenium 2. Better than expected from a supermarket IPA. Not the citric fresh version I prefer. Fruity and duller but still good

BB JUL2016. Poured a crystal clear golden amber with a one-finger off-white frothy head that slowly diminished to a collar that laced well. Carbonation very high and coarse. Aroma of sweet malt with no obvious hops and no grapefruit as per the deScription. Taste is quite sweet of caramel and fruits followed by a moderate bitterness. Light body. Crisp and refreshing with a lingering sweetness and a lingering moderate bitterness. Under-hopped for an IPA.

Bottle from Seiyu. Pours a clear dark gold with almost no head that fizzed away. The aroma is strong candied malt, and a floral citrus hop. The flavour is decent, the malt sweetness balanced out by a decent bitterness. It ends a touch grainy. It’s light and has lively prickly carbonation. Nothing to write home about but at this cheap price point it’s worth taking a few to a bbq.

Pours in straw with very small head. Taste is malty with light hops but not significant. Palate leaves you wishing for more hops to fulfil the picture. Nice plain ipa but nothing to write home about.
