A stunning India Pale Ale (IPA), donít think that Belhavenís Twisted Thistle has anything jaggy, spikey, prickly or otherwise pain-inflicting in its nature. Quite the opposite. Your taste buds will tingle with pleasure after a sip or two of this golden nectar. A real treat from our master brewers in Dunbar.
Ingredients: Pale malt, Cascade and Challenger hops.

Bottle. Pours amber clear with small head that is quickly minimized to small ring, head leaves nice lacing on the glass. Aroma consist of caramel, grass a little hints of fruits and pine (very delicate). Medium body and carbonation. Taste is malty, bit sweet with a medium bitter finish. I was surprised that it taste more like an english ipa though it was hopped ith cascade and chalanger. In summary itís a medium ipa.

Two types of hops (Cascade and Challenger) is the basis of this IPA from Scotland. I get a little confused about the name and thistle on the label, but nothing on the back label explains that in any way used thistles. So the deeper meaning of this IPA I can not figure out. The foam is fairly persistent and hop aroma is really inviting with clear hint of elderflower and citrus, which supposedly comes from Cascaden. The taste is slightly delicate and have a final hoppy bitterness, which is not as marked as expected. The finish is dry and pleasant, but it is not quite what you would expect from an IPA. It is closer to an English bitter than an IPA. As a whole, a good palate, but any real IPA I do not think it is.

Copenhagen 10/7 2015. 33 cl bottle from Føtex. Weird drawing of fishy character on the label with an announcement of this beer being "bold, bitter and juicy". Pours clear dark yellow with small white head. Settles as 0,5 cm thick layer of foam. Aroma is fruity. Lemon and sweet tropical fruit. Notes of alcohol. Medium carbonation. Taste is surprisingly watery. Only a little lemon and subdued sweetness. Lightly dry finish. More prudent than bold, nicely bitter and more watery than juicy. Ok - but not exhilarating.

12oz bottle to pint. Pours clear gold. No head. Aroma of faded pale malts and fruit. Taste is crappy pear and cheap American lager. Low carb. No hop bitterness. AT ALL. Not even close to the right style.

Een beetje gewoontjes als IPA, bittertje, ook zoetje, aardig kraagje, maar ook een beetje laf. Weinig indruk gemaakt. Uit fles in Aabenra DK.

Golden colour, quickly diminishing white head leaves some lacing. Fruity aroma, a little bit of pine as well. Taste is mildly bitter at first, then bitter, then spicy and herbal. Thereís a little dryness in the mouthfeel. I would have loved a little more bitterness, but itís alright.
