A stunning India Pale Ale (IPA), don’t think that Belhaven’s Twisted Thistle has anything jaggy, spikey, prickly or otherwise pain-inflicting in its nature. Quite the opposite. Your taste buds will tingle with pleasure after a sip or two of this golden nectar. A real treat from our master brewers in Dunbar.
Ingredients: Pale malt, Cascade and Challenger hops.

Had this from the tap. Not so great IPA. Smoky aromas and grape fruit. Kind of unbalanced.

En god IPA. Kjøpt i Sverige som så mye annet. Tar gjerne en reprise på denne. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500 ml clear bottle at abv 5.3% bought at Aeon in KCP, Kowloon City.

Clear amber honey colour; One finger head and crumpety white foam which lasted for 2 minutes; Excellent good lacing with fizzy carbonation; Sweet aroma of Ale malt, with initial light struck (lasted for 1 minute), honey, marmalade, grapefruit, thick floral, tangerine, molasses, lemon and grassy hops; Medium sweet taste of Ale malt, with strong caramel, toffee, thick molasses, marmalade, jam, grapefruits, light bread, light biscuits, strong lemon, strong bitter hops and Pils-like grass; Light body, dry and thick palate; Mouth feel is very sweet by IPA standard - moderate Ale malt with lots of caramel plus sticky Challenger’s marmalade, jam, toffee and fleshy grapefruits. Pretty thick and intense, a full mouthful of malt and citrusy hops, yet biscuits and bread is not that heavy. Good!... Hoppiness is grapefruit flesh, marmalade, lemon and strong grass in nose and taste. Bitterness is moderate to strong, approaching Pils-like level for a lasting, strong bitter and jammy-sweet finish; Fairly dry after taste. Sweet and fruity bitter to mouth.

Comments: Initial quick skunk aside (thanks to the clear bottle), the Challenger and Cascade are rich and intense both in taste and aroma, solid bitter hops backed up with fairly good maltyness and this is a fullfiling, fruity English IPA with lots of Countryside feel to it. Very nice and will buy again!

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks Tom L. Clear gold with white film. Skunky, green, hoppy aroma with a little toast. Slightly hoppy, very lightly bitter with sweet undertones. Light body, fizzy, slightly sweet finish.

Butilka: Deep golden, clear, visible carbonation, medium sized and stable creamy and lacy white head; moderate toasty nose accompanied by piney aromas; bitter-sweet flavour, not too dry, almost medium bodied and pretty soft; moderate clean citrussy and piney finish, still balanced by sweet toasted malt. Very pleasant and moreish…

330ml brown bottle poured into a Tulip glass. Appearance is clear golden with a medium sized frothy beige head, that reduced quickly leaving a little lacing. Aroma of orange peels and caramel. Flavour of orange peels, caramel, bread and spices. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter. Palate is light-medium bodied, smooth texture and average carbonation. Overall a pleasantly malted bitter IPA, quite good.

Bottle: Good fucken aroma. Let me say it’s like a really nice air-freshener. Woody hops, fat sticky rich hops, caramel bathing in syrup. Looks and resembles a "textbook" IPA. On my damn palate ***=++=ok, kinda mild and chill. But the hops are alive, rich, chewy and floral and caramel too. Some would call this dull, but it’s easy and not bad. More like a hoppy ESB than typical modern IPA

Bottle. Golden color. Hay, peach, licorice and salt in the aroma. Malty sweetish, salty, slightly alcoholic flavor. Peach. Some hopbitterness. Tasty.
