Commercial Description:
Bottle: Pastuerised.
A refreshing example of an India Pale Ale from the master brewers at Belhaven. The blend of Cascade and Challenger hops combine to produce an abundance of fresh hop aroma that preludes a bitter-dry taste explosion. Crafted from nearly three centuries of brewing heritage at Scotland’s oldest independent brewery, this ale from Belhaven will have your taste buds tingling.

Golden pour, pillowy white head. Fruity pine nose with citrus zest and light spice. Not powerfully hopped, more delicate. The body is rounded with chewy berry fruit flavors and barnyard notes. Perhaps the American IPA has changed my standard but the lack of any hop backbone whatsoever makes this a strange example of the style even from the UK. That said, it is still a drinkable golden ale with some character to it.

wait...is this thing an IPA or an APA??? That would certainly be important in my description. I will go with the bottle, as it states it’s an IPA twice. Twice, like Van Persie having already scored twice against Chelsea today. More please, thank you! The Dutchman is truly flying. The brew has a promising colour and head. But right away, I’ve no nose to really tell on. A little bit of candied hints maybe, but this thing is about as fragrant as glass. Taste is pretty flat, though thoroughly carbonated. Refreshing somewhat, with citrus hints. No hops.....not a hint of hardly any. Perhaps this is why they designate it here as an APA. A little bitter, but for the wrong reasons. More of a normal brew to me. A little malty but I am really disappointed.

Draught at the Flying Saucer Fort Worth. Really expected more from this beer. It just seemed way off for an APA. Very creamy mouthfeel with malt covering up all but just a hint of hops. Good looking beer but odd for the style.

caramel colored, respectable off-white head, some lacing. aroma of minor citrus hops, musty malt. flavor had heavy band-aid notes, strong enough for me to look for a ’born-on’ date. medium bodied, dry finish. this is a favorite style of mine, so it disappoints me to give it such a low rating. i was highly disppointed with this (alleged) apa.

Brewed in Scotland !!! (KSBF) Pours a lite golden color with a foamy white head. The aroma is of citrus with grassy notes. The taste is much of the same with a slightly dry finish. average !!

Pours hazy orange, white head. Aroma is hoppy / floral. Taste, light bitter hops with floral notes (possible use of thistle) leaving a nice tingly feel on the palate. Fruity notes (grapefruit). Some light caramel malt notes. Not as bitter as many other IPA’s, dry finish.

On tap, it is a nice hoppy ale with a little herbal flavor too. A little thin, but not bad. I would like to try it in a bottle also to give it a full rating.
