bought a bottle after reading some decent reviews. I poured this one into a tulip glass and it had a very nice orange-brown color. Little flecks in the beer reminded me of "floaties"; not a good start. The smell was weird and I could not quite place it. The taste was so bad, like the last reviewer said it was medicinal. It reminded me of an old shoe with the sole lit on fire and melted asphalt poured on top. One of only two beers I have ever poured down the drain. I stupidly purchased two bottles so now how do I get rid of the other?

Bright citrus hoppy aromas. Grassy notes. Medium bodied and crisp. Dulled malts with sticky piney hops. Tasty yet bitter. Bready malt backbone. Tingling and off-dry. Good for an English style, but not quite hoppy enough. hoplover406 (204), Crofton, Maryland, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Apr 2, 2008 Bottle. Pours copper with small soapy head that does not last long. Aroma: nothing fancy. Some grassy hops and caramel malts....if you swirl it around enough. A bit thin and astringent. Was hoping for a better IPA to compliment my left over pizza dinner this evening. Oh well. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 30, 2008 Draught at the Britannia Arms in Aptos. Orange to gold in color, with a fluffy white head that laces. Crisp, hoppy aroma. The flavor is light and hoppy with a nice mix of hops, and there is some unique yeast character as well. Dry in the finish with a medium bitterness. Light and crisp body. I really thought that this was a lighter beer as I drank it because of the dryness and refreshing hop bite. I like the balance. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 28, 2008 Strong copper/orange color with tiniy head. Aroma is citrus fruit. Flavor is rich with hop bitterness, leaving the malts hidden. Somewhat light / medium palate, with a dry finnish. Needs more malt flavor to balance it out. beerbiere (101), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 23, 2008 Orange color, small compact head. Nose of yoghurt, white vinegar and french fries!? Starts a little sweet, quickly shifts to a sour register (its main flavor in term of intensity) then earthy (potatoes) and citrussy hops emerge. Light to medium body. Not so American to my opinion. Well done, well balanced and different.
