yarry (370), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada Dec 10, 2007 500ml bottle, 6.1% a/v
Pours a darker golden colour with a generous white head. The nose is mostly of hops, citrus hops mainly. The taste is bitter, but not hops bitter, and very dry. A very interesting taste with a mildly sweet hop aftertaste.
mannika (98), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 9, 2007 500 mL bottle. Aroma is quite hoppy, grass and a bit of spruce. Pours clear golden. Flavour is fairly mild, bit of sourish hoppiness followed by a short bitter finish. Overall not too bad, nothing extremely special though, fairly ordinary on my books EKGoldings (447), Radford, Virginia, USA Nov 29, 2007 Interesting beer, the combination of Cascades and Challenger along with the sweet toffee/malt make for a tasty brew. I wouldn’t call this an IPA though. AOF (282), Naperville, Illinois, USA Nov 24, 2007 Slightly murky, ripe pumpkin color with a thin yet lingering white head. Noticeable Cascade aromas. Lots of grapefruit, pine and sugar cookie. Hints of pineapple and vanilla. Medium bodied and creamy on the palate with a slighty hoppy finish. Im a bigger fan of the American IPA’s, but this one stacks up nicely. sstackho (249), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 24, 2007 500mL bottle purchased for $3.50 from LCBO in Toronto. Pours a clear light gold with decent head and a bit of carbonation. Poor lacing. Aroma is decently hoppy but not exactly strong. Taste is nicely bitter in a typical English style. Sessionable and solid.
SavageElvis (134), Savage, Minnesota, USA Nov 21, 2007 I had the 6.1% version of this. It poured out a very cloudy burnt orange and a very sweet floral at first pour. Nice medium cream colored head. Carmel and vanilla are the most evident flavors wit ha bitter finish. I will concur with the notion of pain killer mentioned by the others. A good American Pale Ale but there are a many better produced in the US at a much better price. DenverLogan (421), MileHi, Colorado, USA Nov 20, 2007 Gold, nice lasting head. Citrus, straw & malt aroma. Nice balance of malts and floral hops, caramel, oak, vanilla, powder sugar...bitter finish. I like the malts and overall flavor, though I can somewhat appreciate my previous reviewers note of painkiller flavor, and the hops are rather mellow. I’d drink it again though. caledonian (367), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Nov 20, 2007 6.1% version. Pours a light copper with a frothy head. Hoppy. Bitter finish, like crushed painkillers.
