Commercial Description:
Bottle: Pastuerised.
A refreshing example of an India Pale Ale from the master brewers at Belhaven. The blend of Cascade and Challenger hops combine to produce an abundance of fresh hop aroma that preludes a bitter-dry taste explosion. Crafted from nearly three centuries of brewing heritage at Scotland’s oldest independent brewery, this ale from Belhaven will have your taste buds tingling.

6.1% version. Pours a light copper with a frothy head. Hoppy. Bitter finish, like crushed painkillers.

liquorloft tallahassee, bottle. The bright but solid gold pour was a interesting surprise being as i expected a typical copper brown like most IPAs. i guess it makes sense now seeing that it is categorized as an APA. Wonderful 2 inch very creamy foam. aroma is vanilla, little citrus, light toffee. taste is balanced and smooth vanilla, citrus, light hops, toffee. not much lasting bitterness. palate was creamy, provided for good lacing on the glass.

Tallahassee, Fl. - Liquor Loft - 500 ml bottle. Sparkling, medium copper pour, very sticky, just slightly off-white head that leave good webs of lacing. Fresh aroma with hints of vanilla, scotch tape (odd), and pine. Vanilla makes its way into the flavor as well with some delicate citrus notes as well. Spearmint makes its presence known as well, but the most overriding flavor is the vanilla - reminds me a bit of some of the oak barrel aged beers out there. Good subtle bitterness throughout. Sticky, thickish mouthfeel. A bit strong for session material (mine says 6.1% - perhaps an old bottle) - but very enjoyable nonetheless. Odd that this is labeled an APA.

Bien agreable!

A heavy beer for an India Pale Ale. Not very hoppy for an IPA either. Somehow it weighs you down with more volume than flavor.

bottle of the %6.1 variety. muted flavors of fruit (orange). mellow alcohol profile that is slightly pronounced. bit of a metal taste that subsides after a couple of minutes. nice malt character that stands out in front. the hop character is muted in the backround and tends to be tingly. after some time the beer rates a 3. looks like a beer with the color of orangeade. good bitter finish. although i usually prefer a lower alcohol content (around 5.5) in this instance i would think that the 5.3% variety might be less interesting.

Now this is an interesting IPA. Pours a light bronze/orange with a thicker, more long lasting head than most IPA’s. Very nice floral aroma, with a little plum up front. Much more sweet malts than expected, with heavy citrus notes and a long bitter aftertaste. Fills the mouth much more so than comparable ales. Much better than most of the boring IPA’s out there.
