Commercial Description:
Bottle: Pastuerised.
A refreshing example of an India Pale Ale from the master brewers at Belhaven. The blend of Cascade and Challenger hops combine to produce an abundance of fresh hop aroma that preludes a bitter-dry taste explosion. Crafted from nearly three centuries of brewing heritage at Scotland’s oldest independent brewery, this ale from Belhaven will have your taste buds tingling.
6.1% USA export version. The Europe version is 5.3%.

Draught @ Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Pours a clear dark golden color with a longlasting white head. Malty floral hoppy aroma with some hints of citrus. Malty and very hoppy flavor with some floral hints. Long hoppy bitter finish.

500 mL. No date, but the bottle says 6.1% ABV (instead of 5.3% change indicated for 2007). Slightly cloudy burnt orange-gold with a large, beautifully creamy, and lasting head. Aroma is metallic-spicy, citrus fruit and caramel. Flavor is first rich malt and caramel, slowly turning to dry spices and slight smoke; then drying to a crisp fruity and herb-bitter finish. Palate is medium-heavy and smooth with a nice small hop tingle and dry finish. Not sure how this ended up in the APA category, but it is a great beer whether you call it a Scotch Ale, an APA, an IPA or whatever. Heavily underrated.

courtesy of oh6gdx - translucid amber-bronze colour under a giant foamy white head which collapses quite quickly; nice lace; robust flowery hoppy nose; very bitter, clean and rounded palate; medium to full-bodied; very long and very flowery, hoppy finish - very enjoyable

(The Gallows Bird, Espoo) Amber coloured, huge head. Notes of hops and sweat in the aroma. Flavour is a bit chemical with some rescuing hops. Way too watery IPA for my taste.

Pours a golden colour with a decent head, some lacing-but low....smell is quite incredibly delicious: apples, pine, honey.....is smooth and reviving! A euro ipa for sure, very balanced too!

no head, no lacing, average ipa colour, aroma is syrupy, herbs, honey, very complex, vinegear, vine, candy flavour is bitter and complex as well, some fruit, dry tongue, fruity nose, palate is strange, fizzy drink-like carbonation

This is an orange colored IPA with a moderate head. The aroma is delicious and fruity, and I find the same notes in the flavour, where I also find caramel and citrus bitterness. Normally I’m not a Belhaven fan, but I do like this one.

Bottle. Clear, golden and nice. Medium bitterness. The finish is a bit short.
