Tessic (439), Brantford, Ontario, Canada Nov 11, 2006 This IPA poured a dark yellow colour with a bright white head. Scents include apricot and citrus with a little bread thrown in. First sip was heavy with flavour. Grassy notes with lots of hoppy flavour. Finish is floral with continueinf hops. Palate is bitter.
Very good IPA. crzybob77 (528), Richmond, Virginia, USA Nov 11, 2006 A fairly bland ale with a little hop backing. Certainly not a drain pour or anything though. Simple and refreshing. markas101 (541), Fargo, North Dakota, USA Nov 11, 2006 50cl bottle, Shelburne. Amber pour, thin head, intensely hoppy aroma. Highly carbonated, fantasticaly bitter hoppy flavour, long bitter finish. Very nice pale ale. daniel0017 (232), Ontario, Canada Nov 11, 2006 Beautiful tan body with bubbly off-white head. Aroma is clean and bright roasted malted barley and very hoppy. The taste is very refreshing. The hops really attack your mouth and give way to a malt barley assault in the aftertaste. Has a very bitter-dry finish. The mouthfeel is bitter. I’ll look out for this one on draught. radiomgb (1921), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Nov 10, 2006 Orange-copper in colour, long lasting creamy white head, nice lacing. The aroma is generously hoppy (oranges, pine), some apples, caramel sweetness, a bit soapy. The flavour is hoppy (pine, citrus), caramel sweetness, grassy. Moderatly bitter mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes with a medium bitterness, lingering, slightly dry. Nicely balanced IPA.
500ml Bottle from the LCBO in Peterborough, Ontario. Best Before December 15, 2007.
KnutAlbert (3111), Oslo, Norway Nov 10, 2006 Bottled, 5,3% ABV. Light amber, pours with a firm head. A malty base for lovely hops - pine, bitter oragnes. Splendidly refreshing, this would be a great summer beer. But I’d liek to try the stronger version, more strength could possibly give more depth. xav33 (313), Midland, MI, Michigan, USA Nov 9, 2006 Belhaven Twisted Thistle IPA
English pint bottle
Recent bottling, uprooted 11/06
Medium pour in a pint glass
Poured a hazy orange with a large fizzy somewhat lasting white head with good lacing.
Smelt of moderate peaches, apricot, perfume and flowers.
Taste was upfront moderately bitter sweet bitter pine and light peaches followed by a strong bitter grassy moderate clover honey sweetness and light roasted malt feel on an average length perfume finish. Palate was light to medium bodied, slightly dry, exaggeratedly fizzy, so much that it stings the tongue, and lightly astringent.
Overall, who would have thought the Scots could make such a nancy tasting mellow English-style fruity IPA. It’s easy drinking and tasty, but the fizzy palate ruins the whole experience. Kinda reminds me of all the peppy annoying fat high school girls I knew that smelled like fruity crap. Comparable to sniffing girl’s panties. Always an interesting proposition. I feel dirty. I need a rauchbier. rederic (1787), montréal, Quebec, Canada Nov 7, 2006 Bright amber color, with a frothy white head, nice fresh flowery hops nose, with a touch of orange fruitiness, piney, leafy and grassy notes, faint malty aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a juicy piney, grassy hops character, with an orange fruitiness from the cascade and challenger hops used, with a subtle toasty malt note, leading towards a piney lingering bitter hops finish.
