mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 9, 2006 Bottle. Pours a light orange body with a medium fluffy white head. Nice kind of subtle hops in the aroma - creamy bread, raw grass and pine, maybe even some vegetables. Flavourful piney and soapy hop bitterness though a bit abrasive at times. Sweet malt appears towards the middle. Beer Snob (378), Ontario, Canada Oct 8, 2006 I guess I was starved for an IPA, and this was all I could find.
Average right down the line. It had a slight hoppy bite and a decent enough malty balance, but unremarkable. shintriad (698), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 7, 2006 Golden, honey coloured, a decent and unusual combination of bitter and sweet flavours, although they teeter like a broken see-saw, instead of playing off each other. A bit yeasty, hardcore grapefruit in the nose, pine notes. Medium-fizzy body. Masks the alcs very well. An interesting beer, but there are many better examples. Cartoonkhaki (1149), Brantford, Ontario, Canada Oct 7, 2006 500 mL bottle, Clean coppery amber hue with nice head. Maintains a malty aroma with light flower aromas from hops coming through. Nicely balanced. Trooper11 (464), Suffolk, Virginia, USA Oct 7, 2006 Not worth the $4 per bottle price. Nice attempt at an IPA from Scotland but, bye bye. Cloudy amber brew sweet pear and hops aroma, slight smoky hops bitter flavor, sour finish. Not an IPA. beergut111 (210), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 6, 2006 Nicely balanced beer, I really enjoyed the biterness. Poured a gold colour, my only problem is it is a little on the boring side. VeloVampire (483), Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 5, 2006 Updated: Jan 9, 2007500 ml bottle - pours copper with a fluffy white head. Aroma of fresh Cascades dominates with some malt in the background. Flavour is nicely balanced with some grassy notes and a distinct metallic earthiness right from the start that carries through into the lightly bitter finish. Well-balanced and drinkable. An excellent British IPA, and one that I would buy regularly if it were not just a seasonal release from the LCBO. Crockett (904), Steelback County, Ontario, Canada Oct 4, 2006 Pours a rich dark gold with a big white small beaded head. Nose is a nice mix of cedar and fresh cut grass, with a little bit of pizza dough sweet yeast scent in the back. Flavours are quite clean and is somewhat more aggressive than the usual british ipa. Certainly a mix of U.K. and what is going on in the States. Good flavour all round. Well balanced with Hops in the forefront above stable semi sweet malts. Hard to find any real faults in this unassuming beer.
