Commercial Description:
Bottle: Pastuerised.
A refreshing example of an India Pale Ale from the master brewers at Belhaven. The blend of Cascade and Challenger hops combine to produce an abundance of fresh hop aroma that preludes a bitter-dry taste explosion. Crafted from nearly three centuries of brewing heritage at Scotland’s oldest independent brewery, this ale from Belhaven will have your taste buds tingling.

500 ml. brown bottle. No freshness date seen. Poured out a hazy orange color with a soapy tan colored head. Green highlights in this beer, probably from the hops. Sweet aromas of fresh cut grass overwhelm everything else. Flavors are sweet malts, some yeast, brought up with hops. Medium mouthfeel, OK body. Finished sweet for the style. Nothing to write home about. Excitingly average at best.

Aroma: Mellow floral hops, caramel malts, some mild fruit, and just a touch of soapiness that keeps it from being better
Appearance: Nice hazy orange color, fizzy white head, spotty lacing
Flavor: Hop bitterness throughout, with some caramel malts in the backing, an odd herbal quality as well, grassy finish
Palate: Medium body, oily, fizzy
Overall Impression: I thought this beer was alright, but I just found it to be a touch off, the soapiness of the nose bothered me a bit, and found the flavor to be a touch flawed as well. Maybe this wasn’t fresh enough? I don’t know, but although it wasn’t a bad beer by any means, I won’t be running out for this one again.

Don’t quite know what to make of this. Certaintly has some IPA character with coppery metallic flavours underpinned with fruit but to my taste becomes more of a bitter as the beer travels through the palate. Very broad flavours and palate structure on the finish. Ultimately not remarkable.

500ml bottle: Pours a clear amber-gold ale in my glass...wonderful 2 finger rocky cap that lasts and laces. Aroma is Pacific NW all the way with the Cascades giving the floral grapefuit tones and the challengers with the fresh pine notes..all this over some substantial bready malt sweetness. Chewy Maris malts meet up with juicy grapefruit -pine hops from the get go and the hops slowly gain power over the mid palate...finishes wet and lightly bittering with a metallic aftertaste that battles a malty biscuit aftertaste. This is a good rendition of an American Pacific north west APA and fanciers of that style will like it. Ample out front NW hopping, sturdy malts and a satisfying 6.1%ABV ...very drinkable and satisfying.

Thanks to 1FastSTI! Pours a heavy golden color, nice sized fluffy white head. Aroma of grassy/lemon hops, smpicy kick to it. Flavor is just a little bitter, english hops are most of the flavor.

Pours clear gold with a decent white head. Sharp, peppery hops that actually smell like a thistle. Astringent hop taste, reminiscent of an English IPA, with a decent amount of orange citrus flavors, and a sweeter, honey-malt finish. A pleasant surprise.
