The smell promises so much, and the taste and finish is absolutely elegant. It comes across so fresh and vibrant and has a fullness that is perfect.
In a way the Thistle is a paradox - really balanced in the British tradition, but still proudly hoppy next to a lot of quite decent IPA’s from America. DFH60 and GD Titan have nothing on this for quality.
Soft classy tang of bitter citrus rind & malt fruits play well together. beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA

Bottle conditioned. Pours light amber with small white head. Some white particulates. Soft carbonation. Sweet malt and hops in the nose. Medium bodied ale that starts with light malt sweetness and burnt caramel/toffee/hop flavors. Finishes dry with light hop bitterness and slight metallic aftertaste. A decent drinkable ale that goes well with food. Uglyradio (776), Greenville, South Carolina, USA

| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 1/5 | 8/20 | Sep 14, 2009 Taste and aroma are pretty nice with decent hops, but the aftertaste is so offensive that it killed it for me. djd07 (757), Houston, Texas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 12, 2009 Bottle as shown. Pours a cloudy orange amber with a small creamy white head that diminshes quickly and leaves behind good sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is floral and cascade hops with citrus. The taste is a dry hop with a crisp bitter finish. A good amercian pale ale from Belhaven. Jayb0 (752), Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 27, 2006 Draft. Lovely. A somewhat creamy and well-balanced, but firmly scottish and malty interpretation of an IPA. Bold (american!) hopping imparting a fruity nose and crisp finish. A bit of a surprise from these guys. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 18, 2006 Coppery in colour with abundant white head. Strong aroma of hops. The hops carry over into the taste. I go back to Mill Street’s Tankhouse Ale for a comparison. Only this one is way more floral. Nice bitter, crisp finish. Very good cold. I like.
