The Thistle pours a nice honey color with soapy lasting head. Aromas of dying flowers tea and barley. You can taste the floral hops, blackberries, bandaids, and the pale malts. The slight bitter and dry finish reminds me of tannic tea. LadySusan (491), Ste-Therese, Quebec, Canada

It has a strong aroma of hops with a sweet toffee smell and taste. It has just the right amount of bitterness to end off. Snojerk321 (2038), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 15, 2008 Bottle from BevMo La Mesa. Pours a light copper color with a good sized head that left great lacing. Great piny and citrus hop aroma. Flavor was a bit too malty thus making the beer a bit unbalanced in my opinion. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 23, 2006 Boring thin golden appearance. The aroma is lemony, grassy hops. The flavor has a substantial malt background, which is balanced by the citrusey (lemon) grassey hops. The finish has a lingering bitter dryness. Marsiblursi (1659), Göteborg, Sweden
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 27, 2007 (Draught) Pours clear golden with a creamy head. Fruity and light hoppy aroma with tones of oranges, pears, flowers and grass. The malt is bready up front with some light notes of toffee and caramel. Some tiny undertones of red berries. Hoppy flavour with a light citric touch. The maltiness is creamy with notes of toffee and some light cookie/bread hints. Some floral notes in the flavour as well. Bitterness comes late and the finish is a bit woody dry. Smooth mouthfeel. The beer is getting more honey sweet as the temperature rising. Medium bodied. A very English IPA. Nice nose of hops siimilar to Youngs SLA. At first I thought it tasted like SLA but it didn’t hang on and turned out to be quite mellow for a Belhaven product. Mellow + balanced would be the right way to put it. Nice IPA in the UK fashion and worthy of another purchase. Nice session beer for sure. carruthm (1187), Seattle, Washington, USA
