Ok for an IPA. Not strong. I like them punch in your face. The taste is a little on the light side. Typical of an English IPA. They tend to be lighter in taste then the American version.

Serving: from tap at Doyleís Public House.
Aroma: couldnít detect anything.
Appearance: small, rocky, white, initial head with good lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Clear, flat, dark-yellow body.
Taste: lightly sweet and moderately hoppy initial flavor and lightly bitter and nutty finish with average duration.
Palate: medium body and soft carbonation.
Overall: very good. Hoppy but sweet. Look forward to drinking this again.

Spicy with a malty back character, I think this is an interesting beer but short in the hop depth I've come to appreciate in many American IPAs. Tasty nonetheless

16.9 oz. clear bottle from The Beer Store, Nashua, NH. A clear bottle, really?? No bottle dating anywhere either. Nose is skunky hops and light caramel. The taste has some sweet pale malt, floral hops, and some light cracker notes. Body is on the light side of medium. Finish is clean and abrupt. I will say that this beer really is nicely balanced. And extremely easy to drink. What Americans have to remember here is this is an English IPA, not an American interruption. It should be more sweet with a subtle hop. I will find this on cask and compare. A nice surprise.

2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Bottle: Pale amber color with some floaters. Two fingers of fluffy white head. Odd aroma, sort of a pollen like smell... floral and herbal. Tastes herbal, but its abrasive. Sort of skunky... chalky... could be the yeast, could be the malt, could be that its just odd and I donít like it.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear golden pour that really looks like urine. Single finger head with a very dank and grassy aroma. Finish is very sweet. Lots of dank grass upfront. This is one funky beer! Mouth is medium bodied. Good lace. Stings a little in your mouth. This is a palate killer so watch out.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Belhaven Twisted Thistle IPA has a thin-to-medium, off-white head and a mostly clear, bubbly, orange appearance, with lots of light gray sediment floating about. Some splotchy lacing is left on the glass. There was an initial skunk smell upon pouring the beer, but this almost immediately dissipated. The aroma is of mild fruitiness, malt, and just the slightest hop sting. Taste is of strongly-roasted malt, with even some charcoal, sweet, brown bread, fruitiness, pine resin, and back-end hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and soft, and Belhaven Twisted Thistle finishes dry, refreshing, and easily drinkable. Overall, this is a very good and interesting beer. RJT

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Smells skunky, almost like weed. A little hops and malt but the skunky smell is pretty prominent. Aftertaste has virtually no bitterness - just a little sour. Pours clear golden with a little head and lacing. Meh. Bottle.
