malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Jan 18, 2009 On nitro at The Gate. Dark amber with lasting creamy head and lace. Malty caramel biscuit aroma. Toasted caramel cookie dough molasses with some fruitness and failry clean mildly bitter finish. Medium-full creamy body, thanks to nitro. Pretty tasty, but my palate was probably worn by having IPAs leading up to it. meeple (52), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jan 16, 2009 Bottle. Pours mahogany color, robust head. Nose is faint. All malt, caramel, little hop flavor. Medium bodied. Good example of Scottish Ale, though without any outstanding qualities. Thylacine (237), Tasmania, Australia Jan 16, 2009 500ml bottle - Clear, dark red, thin beige head. Medium carb. Rich malty/caramel sweetness, bready, fruity. peaty, Just a touch of alcohol showing through. Head disappeared while writing this. A very pleasant drop. Jsawyer (282), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 15, 2009 On tap, poured dark ruby with a creamy white head. Nose was predominately sweet: caramel, toffee, vanilla, maple syrup, and licorice. Flavor initially a mild roast barley balanced with a very sweet malt, then licorice to Nyquil. Smooth but unfortunate as the more I imbibed the more reminiscent off cough syrup it became. drjay44 (757), Salida, Colorado, USA Jan 11, 2009 500 ml. bottle. Pours a thin head of long duration over a clear copper body.....nose is malts, with sweet caramel overtones....tastes of malts, with some mild sweetness flowing through, there is a bit of mouldy flavor drifting through, probably terroir...mouth feel is creamy....over all it is typical of the style and a nice balancing of the many malt flavors. mikkopen (250), Oulu, Finland Jan 5, 2009 500 ml bottle. Deep reddish amber colour, thin but persistent off-white head. Sweet caramel-malty aroma with fruits and vanilla. The flavour is lightly toasted, caramel-malty, with spicy, mildly hoppy finish. Medium-bodied, smoothly carbonated and slightly buttery. fidelis83 (707), Clinton, Iowa, USA Dec 29, 2008 Pours very dark amber-red with a tall chunky beige head, good retention foamy and firm lacing. Aroma is caramel, toasted grain, sweet white bread, nice floral malts. Flavor is grainy malt, lots of caremel, toffee, and leafy notes then floral hops and a little spice. Body is medium and sticky, astringent toward the finish. SHIG (2012), Aviano, Italy Dec 29, 2008 Bottle: Poured a reddish to chocolate color brown very hazy, with a off white head not quite beige.
