Bottle. Pours a clear deep amber with medium off-white head, decient retention. Aroma is strong caramel, cereal, and fruity notes. Flavor has strong malt sweetness with a taste of roasted grains with nice bitter balance and slight alcohol spice. Medium-full mouthfeel with low-medium carbonation....A very well made beer with an attractive price to boot....

A very malty aroma, The taste is very basic. Smooth, but doesn’t seem to have much to it. Decent enough, just not for me.

Dark brown/mahogany color, transparent if you put it up to a light. Creamy beige one finger head, left intricate lacing. Aromas of chocolate powder, brown sugar or molasses, and subtle espresso. Complex flavors as well, including all the aromas plus some dark fruits and some hop bitterness if you let it linger in your mouth. Creamy, smooth texture medium to full body, light carbonation. Better than their Scottish Ale.

500ml Bottle $3.29 Binny’s Orland Belhaven’s Wee Heavy pours a handsome transparent mahogany. The pour conjured up a finger and a half eggshell head that had good staying power and left respectable lace on it’s way down. A good looking wee heavy! There’s a bright yeasty fruitiness upfront reminiscent of figs and plums. Toffee and toasted brown sugar create a great complexity as they wrap around the fruitiness. Tendrils of peat smoke bring up the rear and adds the finishing touches. Flavor comes across like the nose suggested but the malt is much more pronounced and clean. The peat emerges nicely as this brew gets closer to room temperature. Fruity and malty with the perfect level of sweetness. If there’s any complaint it’s that the mouthfeel could use a bit more heft. Besides that it’s smooth and creamy with a little warmth on the swallow. Great drinkability! One I could sit back and enjoy multiple pints of without a problem. Great balance of malt, fruit, and smoke. Belhaven Wee Heavy is an excellent example of the style. I, unfortunately, don’t see too many wee heavys around but luckily this one is always on the shelves. 3/22/08

Eh, not so bad. Pours a deep brown/red color, malty aroma. Taste is malts with a bit of a hoppy aftertaste. Too much alcohol bit to make this a routine buy, though.
