0.5 l bottle. Ruby color with creamy tan head. Sweet and malty aroma with caramel, toffee, wood, nuts, some higher alcohols, hint of fruity esters. The same elements continue in the flavor with warming finish. Low bitterness. Very malty with lots of toffee.

Not a bad Wee Heavy at all. Very malty and rich. It has a good mouthfeel, but overall I was not impressed by the beer. ------- Jesus, that was an uninformed previous rating.... Aroma is chocolate and nutty, mostly nutty. Taste is very similar, with cocoa playing a dominant role in the beer. Overall, this beer is very average. Mouthfeel is thin and fizzy. Very unremarkable for the most part, but a touch of creaminess.

Lacking in hops like a good wee heavy should be. I like Scottish Ale because it dares you to drink it. Head lasts until the bottom of the glass, which I also like. Very palatable and a beer you go go back of again and again. Lovely.

Bottle, 6.5%. Rather malty, slightly dusty aroma. Clear dark brown colour, small head. The flavour is a little roasted, malty and dusty. Slight pepperiness. The alcohol gives a good mouthfeel.

Great Scottish/English Ale. Well balanced overall, smooth palate, nutty taste, medium to fuller body. Pleasantly sweet but not overdone. See Magic Hat’s Jinx, but refined to another level. Recommended.

Bought this at the Orchard Park Liquor store in Kelowna and the time I thought it was heavy and syrupy. I will have to revist this beer again. Page 46 of MJ’s only 475 Classic Brews to go. Dec 07 bottled hints of smoke and little bit of a salty finish.

500ml Bottle: Pours a dark amber ruby brown, good sized head with retention and lacing. Good start! Aroma is quite sweet and fruity, very malty, and follows up with notes of caramel, chocolate, and toast. The flavour is quite sweet, like rock candy, and heavy in alcohol. Plenty of hops to balance things out, although I found they lacked some character. Orange and cinnamon follow up those original tasting notes. Very well done!

Sweet malted barley and faint hops to the nose. Clear dark body with gorgeous thick frothy tan head that leaves clinging lacing the full length of the glass. Flavor is sweet. Malted barley present in every sip, molasses, chocalate, caramel with a very refreshing bitter hops finish. Velvety rich palate in a beer that is distinctively cask conditionned. More expensive but worth every penny.
