Wow, I disliked this last year but this is lovely. Big rich tones of different malts mingled in perfect balance with delicate, rounded hops. Caramel sugariness, cocoa, bitter notes, character for miles. This kills some Trappist Dubbels.

(Bottle BB 03/08) Caramel/toffee, licorice and roasted malty aroma. Dark red brown colour and average size, light brown, very slightly lasting head with fair lacing. Licorice, roasted malty and slightly caramel flavour. Softly carbonated, medium to full-bodied palate with hint of alcohol. 17/11/06

Bottle, poured dark red with black highlights, a off-white head appeared and dissapated some, lots of lacing on the glass, fragrances of sweet malt, roasted malt, whiffs of whiskey and brandy alcohol, faint licourice, chocolate and brownies, taste of dark malt, sweet malt and little dark brown sugar, carbonation on the tongue, this is a sweet ale, almost like a dessert drink, a winter warmer, I could feel the alcohol sliding down my throat, very soothing, warming, nice ale.

This is a beer you want to spend a little time with. It has a full malted falvor that leaves a full flavor on the palate.

this is a pretty nice brew. Has a fairly strong chocolaty roasted malt taste. Has a cream texture and was overall pleasing.

I didn’t much care for it, though it wasn’t bad. Good color and head retention, but the flavor was too bitter for my tastes.
