Bottle. Poured a dark red. Malty with a slight balance of hops. I found it a bit too watery, but still a good beer.

Sweetish carmel malt aroma, with hints of peat and licorice, malt dominate taste with overtones of mellow carmel has a ddiacytel slickness to it,its almost like sucking a sugar daddy sucker, tastey ,if subtle brew, not as big or full as its American couterparts

500 ml bottle - pours dark copper, almost ruby, with rocky off white head that lasts. Aroma very malty with some nice spice in there - perhaps clove or nutmeg. Some dark fruits as well, and a rich fresh bread smell. Lots going on in the aroma. Very smooth mouthfeel, little carbonation, and a repeat of the notes that came out in the nose, although with the addition of some bittering hops, and that rye-breadiness again. A bit of alcohol in there, but nicely integrated. Not a huge finish, but that’s not what this beer’s about. A very nice surprise.

500ml bottle - pours deep amber with moderate white head. Wonderfully bready, malt heavy aroma, just lightly fruity. Sweet malt in the flavour, yeast, with just a very subtle trace of hop bitterness. But there’s nothing cloying about this malt heavy beast of a beer. The light notes of baked bread are delicious. The level of sweetness is balanced just right with what hops there are. Great!

Pours a deep reddish amber and emits a rich aroma of fresh mowed hay, drying peat, molasses, earthy hops, and a hint of cherry. Flavor is moderately sweet, with more emphasis on malts than hops, very well-balanced. Finish is a smooth blend of sweet malt, smoky peat, and mild bitterness. A pleasant warming of alcohol ensues. This is a great beer for a cold winter afternoon watching the weather take a turn for the worse. Slainte!

Aye! Midnight red with a mattress of a tan head on top. Big savory aroma of malt and sweetness. Smoky peat at first, this is a big caramel and sugary beer. Makes me want to chase the lassies ’round the pub! Beautiful!

Dark red pour with off-white head. Malts and more malts in the nose and flavor. Aroma also presents hints of earthiness, straw and moss. Flavor is sweet and bready with a bitter end. Lively carbonation with medium body, moderately long finish. Watery texture. Easy drinking.
