Nose is malt tones of pecan, wheat bread, and oak. Palate is smooth, even and appetizing. Flavor is rich with a definite nutty prelude that is rounded out with a roasted malt finish that perfectly captures that faint smokiness that characerizes many of the best scotch ales. Excellent in balance and depth. My heart’s in the highlands, gentle and fair. vyvvy (2034), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA

Very smooth creamy aroma with lots of caramel. TAste has lots of what as in the aroma. Very smooth and rich with mild carbonation. Roasted malt and caramel dominate the taste with slight bitterness on the finish. Very nice enjoyable beer. thehipone (197), Australia
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 31, 2006 Everything you want from a scotch ale, nothing you don’t. Pours out a deep brown with a fine, creamy head. Doesnt really smell like much, but it has a big malty flavor. Medium-thick mouthfeel with low carbonation. Nice. TheBeerOrg (1572), Kentucky, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Mar 24, 2006 Pours dark amber with a mostly receding tan head. Aroma of oak, vinous malts, port, and caramel. Taste is yeasty esters and toasted caramel malts. Notes of oak, peat malt, apples, apricots, with a firm backbone of sweet vinous malt. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and slightly sticky with smooth carbonation. Quite enjoyable with the unusual fruity esters and balanced sweetness. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA

Aroma was" a chocolate but roasted or smokey. Flavor was chocolate spices and hops towards the finish. Solid beer" emptytankard (36), Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 16, 2006 A reddish murky pour, this malty brew has a sweet smoky aroma and small tan head. The most impressive aspect of this beer is its drinkability. On the milder side of the Scottish scale, wee heavy is true to its name. It shows nuances of the strong malty sweetness and smoky character common to scotch ales, but unlike many other Scottish brews this one doesn’t have to be sipped. Overall a great brew, and the best offering from Belhaven. demitriustown (693), Shelby Township, Michigan, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 13, 2006 Dark maroon pour with a thick rocky white head. Smoke, slight maltiness, hops, sugar, and molasses are all present in the scent. Sweet maltiness to the taste that consists of a slight bitterness, a very light amount of smoke, and caramel. A decent subtle Scotch Ale that is easily sippable and remarkable average. Try it once and then move on to something more exciting. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA
