BOTTLE: dark red brown coloring, light off white head, aroma of cherries and ark fruit, big malt bomb flavor, smooth alcohol, light on the palate, not a trace of a hop leaf in the aroma or flavor, bready malt fruit flavors, surprised by the extremity of the fruit esters, caramel maltiness, rich and refreshing, this bottle seems to have traveled well from Scotland, no noticeable off flavors or stale malt at all, a great example of a 90 shilling... I bought this bottle because i’m planing on brewing a 60 shilling this weekend and wanted to make sure i could drink 5 gallons of this scottish stuff... I’m brewin’ it!

500ml Bottle: Aroma of slight herbs, malts, slight butter, egg roll, fryer oil, and a hint of cheese. Poured deep amber/orange/copper in color with a medium-sized tan head that disappeared quickly. Clear. Lightly sparkling. Flavor is light to medium sweet. Tastes of malts, light chocolate, nuts, slight caramel, slight peat, and some toffee. Medium body. Slightly chalky texture. Average carbonation. Sweetish, malty, nutty finish.

Pours a deep brown slightly ruby color, with a light brown creamy head. Head doesn’t last long. Not much of an aroma. Very delicious malt flavors with some fruity notes. Ends with a roasted malt flavor. Delicious and easy to drink.

Pours a deep amber red with a pillowy caramel coloured head. Aroma is of butterscotch, dried fruit and smoke. Tastes like apples, butterscotch, dried fruit, spices, vanilla, and caramel. Mouth feel is oily and very pleasant. Really nice!

I am a fan! Aroma: not much; faint alcohol was all I could get Great dark color with 2 finger head Perfect heaviness for mouthfeel; almost creamy. I did not detect bitterness like others jult malt and a slightly burnt taste at the end. First for me and won’t be the last!!

Very well crafted strong ale. I rather enjoyed this one. Doesn’t kick you in the stomach like some others do.

Tasted 3/1/09. 500ml bottle. Filtered with a deep ruby, brown hue. Layer of khaki head. Malty bready aromas with a caramel and fudge note. Mild esters in the nose. Medium bodied with a rich palate and rather malt dominant. Sweet malty character. Bready flavors with a mix of cola astringency and dark dried fruits. Toffee and starting to show a little buttery flavor. Faint wisp of bitter hops in the middle of the palate. Finishes sticky and lingers with a tangy effervescence. Mild burnt, smokey character in the end.
