Pours a very attractive red-brown with a beige head. The nose is some peat and some smoke and a hint of toffee. The flavor is some serious smoked almonds, definite whisky peatiness, a hint of lime, somewhat sweet but not strongly so. The mouthfeel is the weak link here,
thin for the style and unable to measure up to the rest of the brew.
This isn’t bad, but nor am I overly impressed. BeerHawk (1203), Huntsville, Alabama, USA

Sweet aroma of chocolate and fruit with a light roast. The complex flavor is also sweet with chocolate, caramel, fruits, and a wood/roasty background. Medium to full body. Nice sipper after a long day. SDalkoholic (1198), Chula Vista, California, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | May 4, 2005 Somewhat of a red wine aroma. Brown colorish mahogany with sediment/dust floating around inside. Flavor is flat but quite strong of caramel malt, chocolate, and coffee. Not the type of beer id buy again. jcr (1195), Jasper, Indiana, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 30, 2007 Ruby red with a medium offwhite head. Sweet malt that is about as deep as a 6.5% beer should be; easy drinking but plenty of roasted malt taste. The faintest of alcohol in the finish. Quality brew. Tranquillity (1181), Espoo, Finland
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 7, 2007 Bottled. THIS is a fantastic beer. Dark brown with a thick head, beige to its colour. The aroma of toffee, sirup and chocolate, with a malty toastyness is great. The taste continues on the same theme. A phenomenal beer.
