3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
0,5L bottle. Pours clear dark brown with ruby highlights, has decent light tan head. The head disappears quickly. Aroma: strong malt and caramel with hints of fruits. Taste: very sweet, malt, caramel, nutty, some smoke, burnt sugar bitterness. This bitterness with smoke continues in the finish. Overall: nice example of wee heavy, but a little too sweet for my taste.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a nice clear sepia with a respectable buff head that takes its leave rather quickly. Malty aroma has fruity and caramel hints. Strong, if not bold, flavor pleases with malty and caramel notes plus fruity and nutty hints. Texture is firm and fizzy, and leaves a sweetish malty finish. Aye, laddie (or lassie), a bonnie brew!

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
$4.99 for the 500mL bottle purchased from town. To oversized snifter, it pours a purplish mahogany brown with which a sudsy vanilla crème head rested on top of. Aromas of cooked spelt, kilned malts, young tobacco, sawdust, English yeast, and toasted breadcrumbs. Tastes of russet potatoes, caramel, grill char, charred shortbread, beet sugar, Bible paper, and chickpeas. Autumnal leaves, limes, minerals, by swallow. An all-around decent 90 Shilling.

A classy scotch ale. You get it all here. Heavy booze, heavy sticky body. This ain’t no sissy beer. Will def come back for more. If only LFC hadn’t lost, it would be amongst my favorites, but now it has tainted memories.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle (500ml): Clear. Dark red to brown. Good thick tan head. Dull nose. Slightly dank. Roasted, caramel, nuts, toasty, malt dominated. Palate is sweet, not sour and light to lightly moderate bitterness. Slippery mouth feel. Malty roasted, chocolate and caramel. Good depth and length. Clean.
Mildly impressed. Expected something far more dull and ended up with a pleasant rich beer for a cold winter evening. Aroma builds over time.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Clear bottle: Poured a rich red-brown with off-white head which faded fast leaving nice legs. Aroma is dark malt, bready with undertones of raisin. Taste is initially sweet, toffee, and roasty with a sharp bitter, clean finish from both hops and alcohol. Full mouthfeel, moderate to slightly high carbonation. It is filling and warming.

On tap @ la Pazzeria.
