This one was a really good cold winterís night drink. Iíve never been a fan of Scotch Ales, but I saw its place after this. Thick, smoke, tons of malt, and not at all cloying.
I enjoyed it with a good pipe smoke of some good black cavendish, and it really brought out the vanilla touch in both beer and pipe.

Strong, tart, toffee aroma with some malt and mineral smell. Clear red color with tan head. Sweet and malty in flavor with caramel and a little vanilla. Sticks to the palate. I would have expected more smoke and earth.

Very nice Scotch Ale. Nice mahogany color with a frothy beige head. The first notes to the nose are smoke and caramel. Sweet malt, anise hints. Not as robust in the body as Iíd like but holds up well. The flavor was in tune with the nose. Sweet, anise, smoke, and such. Very rewarding drink.

Clear dark amber, with a fluffy off-white head. Subtle malty aroma. Flavor is impressively smooth, roasted malts, maybe some molasses in there too. Well rounded out.

Pours a dark ruby/amber body topped with a generous off-white foamy head. Strong malty aroma with evident hints of caramel, toffee, and brown sugar. Rich malty/caramel taste with light hoppy and roasty/smokey notes. Finish leaves some warming effect. Very good fall beer!
