Has that characterisitc sweet taste but not cloyingly so. The alcohol was well masked and the feel was full bodied. An excellant scotish ale

UPDATED: APR 12, 2003 Yes, this was quite good. Jenny was off on a trip and Mr Kelly was at an architecture conference, so I decided to indulge in drinking some of this beer. Beer is the genus of which "scottish ale" is the species.

[Bottled] Brown colour with a good head. Nice curtains. Nice caramelly aroma with roasted notes. Full bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. Very malty flavour with notes of dark fruits.

Interesting beer which probably isn't quite the sum of it's parts. Gets a touch sweet towards the end but would probably be better accompanying a steak pie or something similar. Worth a try for sure.

UPDATED: MAY 12, 2010 Dark amber / copper colour. Nice head. Malty toffee aroma. Creamy, sweet-ish toffee flavour. Full-bodied. Not much bitterness.

Heavy brown-ruby color with an appetizing fruity nose. Dates, raisins, plums, acidity, earth, sweet malt. Nice smoky swallow that turned sweeter as it warmed. Sweet overall but didn’t get cloying. Pleasant all the way through.

Was hoping for more, but still a very great beer ... balance seemed to be a bit off between the several distict flavors ... but nice body and finish

Pour is a deep mahogany, thick tan head, good lacing. Aroma is malty, bready, some caramel, chocolate and smokiness in there, too. Flavor is quite sweet, caramel, chocolate, a little spicey, and a hint of the smokiness comes through. Medium body, fairly low carbonation.

A powerful worty beer that only reminds me of christmas. Sure this isn't sesonal? It's sweet and aromatic, goes well with greasy food, or just as sip-beer. Or just replace the desert with a bottle or two.

Bottled: Dark ruby coloured. Medium lasting head. Aroma is very malty and sweet. Notes of caramel/chocolate. Flavour as well very sweet. Smooth and pleasant chocolate taste. Has a bite of bitterness in the end.
