3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
DATE TASTED: February 20, 2014... GLASSWARE: Victory Nonick... OCCASION: a beer much sought after... APPEARANCE: dark brown body that displays HUGE chunks of sediment--been sitting too long? thick, chunky off-white head offers formidable lacing... AROMA: brilliant buttery, big malt aroma with dampened caramel and candy sugars; somewhat earthy, grainy but difficult to lay a nostril to...PALATE: smooth, thin and mellow--the mouth is refreshed as much as it’s engaged; slightly warming as the glass drains...TASTE: sweet and malty; a brown ale’s subtlety with fleeting fervor--a bit of barleywine funk at the end; low to no hop impression... OVERALL: the initial shock of floating substance (something I had not dealt with since the "claw" incident in Heavy Seas’ Saison art the shore a decade ago) still makes this review tainted; I have little doubt this rates better than I afforded it, but to rate authentically, I cannot be betray the experience itself...I may have to find another distributor to ascertain the true quality of this beer...

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Wee Heavy is a very typical Scottish ale with emphasis on the malt. It smells wonderful of candy and caramel. The taste varies over sweet malt with notes of honey. The hops are discreet and almost absent, but it is also because hops do not thrive in the highlands why the Scots often saves hops rather than import it to expensive prices. Wee Heavy is somewhat sweet beer, but on a real malt-based manner where the hops still would have simply put a damper on its other good impression. Caramel, honey and candy are the flavor-bearing ingredients, and one should therefore expect a sweet ale that leaves a slightly sticky sweetness in the finish.

Pours a reddish brown with a light tan head. Aroma is malty with a slight roasted note. Taste is similar with earthy hops and roasted malts supplying a bitterness.

Copenhagen 3/7 2015. 33 cl bottle from Rema 1000. Pours clear reddish brown with off-white head. Subsides to 0,5 cm thick layer of foam. Aroma of fermented fruit and alcohol. Soft carbonation. Taste is sweet malts and dark fruits. Surprisingly watery compared to the aroma. Mostly boozy notes of alcohol in the aftertaste. A strong beer with some character. Not many hops around though.

This is an excellent ale. It is hopped a little above average, but the great thing about the beer is its wonderful malt taste. It is crisp and full bodied. While the alcohol content is 6.5 %, it has the body of a higher alcohol beer. An excellent beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear dark copper pour, thin off white head. Nose speaks of lightly peated malt. Sweet, more than not. Middle is gentle toffee, deep malt backbone, floral sweetness, and a slight nutty character. Finish shows a slight mineral tang, but still leaves sweet. Paired well with a subtle Welsh cheddar after dinner.

Marrón translucida. Espuma bonita. Magnífico aspecto. Aroma dulcemente tostado con ligeros toques lupulados que le dan cierta complejidad. Azúcar tostada en el sabor, propia del estilo. Fantástica con un bizcocho. También frutal, higo, frutas del bosque. Lupulo escaso. Cuerpo medio y carbonatacion justa. Rica en su estilo.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Not as good as Skull Splitter, but a nice offering. Pours deep brown, with thin tan head. Aroma of malt and peat smoke. Some smokiness comes through in the flavor as well, combined with a toastiness to the malt. Pretty decent stuff.
