Bottle! Pours mahogany with a scummy white head. Speckled lacing. Aroma of toffee and figs. Massive maltiness with a peat background. (I say "peat", but I’m easily influenced by brewery descriptors, and this one is from, you know, Scotland.) So, yeah, good stuff. Smooooth and drinkable and a nice change o’ pace from the standard hop bomb.

Stumbled upon this somewhere in downtown Hampton. A bit pricey, but it’s worth the $4.50!!

This stuff has an amazing clear, reddish brown colour. It also has a large smooth looking light tan head with good retention and some ropy lacing. The aroma is based around the huge malt presence - sweet, caramel, there’s something earthy, raisins... I think that’s it. There is a huge roast characteristic to the flavour with some hidden hops... just a massive pile of dark roasted malts, toffee /molasses. The hop spice comes out more later on. Smooth mouth feel and a great aftertaste. It’s good but for whatever reason I am not drawn to this beer what so ever.

Deep Brown slightly red colour. Thin head, retention is okay. Aroma is malty with some fruit. Flavour is strong and malty, some fruit on the palate. It finishes very dry with a nice hop finish. It is a bit alcoholic tasting. and it Has that great English ale character

Bottle. Pours a very clear medium reddish-brown with an off-white long-lasting head with good lacing. Nose is buttered buns, sweet fruit, cherry, malt. Palate is more bread and butter, with chocolate, cherry, nice sweet fruit, a touch of coffee, finish is long and sweet, although the alcohol shhows through a bit here. A very nice beer.

A very tasty and somewhat malty ale. Nice delicious balance of flavors here. Caramel, malt, and a bit of honey. Really nice.
