Commercial Description:
Pasteurised bottle, export only.
Belhaven Wee Heavy has a rich deep flavor that derives from the greater proportion of malted barley to hops wich characterised Scottish ales of the 19th century. A beer to be sipped, savoured and fully respected.

Everything about this beer speaks of strength! A beautiful, rich ruby red with a strong and fresh aroma that mixed hops and a touch of sweetness. Not much of a head, but a pile of flavour - hops, malt, caramel and even a hint of smokiness. This is a strong ale that goes down easy with a pleasantly full, but not overpowering aftertaste. Instantly, it has become one of my favourites - and since the LCBO only stocks it for a short time, I’m off to the store to stock up.

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 27 Sep 2008) Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with dark fruit, roasted grain and brown sugar. Malty, nutty taste with notes of toffee, caramel and a balanced spicy bitterness in the finish. Nicely balanced. Medium to full body. Very nice beer.

Poors very brown colour, not too dark, with a nice robust creamy head. The aroma is pleasant and oakey, with a very sweet honey or molasses edge. The flavour is strong, malty, not too sweet, and the alcohol is well concealed. It is very well balanced. Extremely enjoyable.

500ml bottle. Clear reddish brown with off-white foamy head that thins quickly. Woody, raisin wine aroma. Bubbly, dry raisin wine cooler taste with a clean aftertaste. Very smooth, hides alcohol well but very light on taste. This is the 2nd bottle I’ve had and after having it on tap I expected much much more. It’s tap or nothing for this one.

Copper with a small white head. Bread, malt, caramel, dried fruits, chocolate. Great mouthfeel, almost creamy. Solid brew.

Didn’t seem that strong, but there was good flavor and went well with the fish po’ boy.
