Lunkie (1006), Glen Iris, Australia Jun 28, 2008 Hop malt aromw with sweet cherries. Murky red maber colour with poor head and lacing. Sweet malt hop fruit flavour. Smooth palate.
Dredd (364), Ormond, Australia Sep 3, 2008 Interesting aroma of dried apricots, pour is hazy red/amber with a thin head. Flavour is pronounced fruits with mid sweetness. Finish is quite light and sweet. Needs a bit more somewhere to give it more character.
As this warms up, metallic elements seem to get a bit stronger which is dissapointing.
Chrism86 (89), Melbourne, Australia Aug 29, 2008 Poured murky red with quickly subsiding fizzy white head. Aromas are not quite what i expected. Some sweet caramel and tangy red fruits. Was expecting more roasted malt or something. Palate was much of the same, sweet caramel malt with some tangy citrussy fruit. Not that familiar with the stlye but assumed would have some roasted characters, albeit quite mild. this almost seemed like every other sub standard apa. Stew41 (883), Caulfield, Australia Jun 13, 2008 Mixed feelings here. Smells are not great; pongy "off fruits" (albeit mild) and a slightly abrasive metallic. Ok - not a great start although a late sliver of fruit works ok. Palate doesn’t seem to stick to a style and whilst highly likely brewed as a lager I do pick up a somewhat meaty, dark fruit character in the front palate which has some appeal. Back half is less impressive as the fruit drops out and the metallic note rears its head. Pommie (1), Ocean Grove, Australia does not count Feb 5, 2008 Very reminiscent of a Newkie Brown in colour and texture. But really excells after tasting. Reddish in colour with creamy head. A lovely drop from a micro brewery that obviously is destined for a bright future.
