Great looking beer with a strong malty taste of caramel. A style alot different from what we are used to with Belle Gueule.

Came in a cardboard scotch tube and in a 660ml bottle. Celebrating already 20 years of Brasseurs RJ... congrats ! Cellared this one, and now it is time. Pours a hazy caramel red-orange colour with a small off-white head that dissipate fairly quickly and not much is left. Nice slow carbonation though. Fruity scent with some raisins, figs, grainy malts and notes of nuts. Thin watery body with a little stick and no alcohol felt at all. The taste is pretty quiet overall, with some mild touches of caramel malt, biscuit, roasted malt, hints of plum and coffee. A lighter-tasting Doppelbock that is not trying to shock the world and goes down easy.

660 ml bottle, purchased at Peluso (Montreal), March 30, 2010. Red Honey, small beige head. Aroma of caramelized malt, interesting notes of sweet spices. Sweet cereal taste, a touch of spices, sensation of alcohol aftertaste, well it’s more than a year that is on the market, so it aged well. Quite nice for a Belle Gueule!

Clear copper pour with a thin offwhite head. Aroma of caramel, malt and mild veggies. Average, on the verge of boring, flavor of caramel, mild fruits and malt. The body is light while the texture feels slightly watery and the carbonation is gentle. There’s not much to celebrate here...

Was a little drunk when I had this, but I doubt I’ll ever come across it again. It was smooth, thick, dark brown, and nice.

Bottle [660ml] shared with HogTownHarry & garthicus -- c/o garthicus. Pours a deep ruby-orange with an average size diminishing off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, grain, nuts, hops and alcohol. Flavour of grain, biscuity malt, some sweetness (brown sugar or molasses or something) and light hops. Medium bodied. This is definitely the best Belle Gueule beer that I’ve tried, I liked it.

Medium amber pour with a small head. Nice bready sweet malty aroma with notes of toffee and nuts. Flavor is a tad watery but the bready malts continue witha semi bitter semi dry sweet caramel finish . Pretty good stuff. Nice effort.
