250ml bottle (Smatch, Bruges)
3 Strange aroma, a bit of butterscotch
3 Deep gold, persistent head
3 Totally fucked up taste. Not a gueze, not a lambic. Butterscotchy
1 Chemical, dirty, and just plain bad in the mouth.
4 Insult to gueze. InBev are evil.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Bottle in Luxembourg. A darkish looking Lambic. Sharpish with a bit of zing but nothing to cause any puckering! Slightly fruity. Nice crisp finish.

When in Leuven. It seemed like every restaurant had 30 bottled beers, and every one was an AB-InBev product. At least in Belgium that means a much better selection than it does in the US or Brazil! I was jonesing for a lambic, as this was our first night in Belgium. Thought maybe this would deliver something relatively satisfying. Wrong. Poured a lightly hazy amber with a lasting white head. Interesting sweet sort of cake smell with vanilla and spice. Lightly tart yoghurt and sweet, sugary cake flavor. Balanced, I guess, though not in any way a gueuze should be. No real lambic flavor at all. Completely over this.

Bottle: Big vast white foamy head, disappears slow. Clear light brown to dark orange colored beer. Smell honey, spices, bread and dough. Taste is very sweet: spices, herbs, fruit, banana, soft ice. Low carbo soft creamy mouthfeel.

Has a sweet aroma, like a faro, but it’s supposed to be a Gueuze, right? Appearance is yellow with plenty of head. Flavour is very sweet, very kriek-faro like, very unnatural. Watery palate. Not good at all for a gueuze.

Dissapointed. I expected a little more, it wasn’t so sour, it was just more like a sweet one wiht not much to make it complex.

De geuze van Belle-Vue heeft net als de zijn kriek een wat bittere afdronk. Ik persoonlijk vind alle varianten van Mort Subite veel milder en ook veel lekkerder te drinken.

LCBS 2010. 1979 bottle from marc. What an odd beer. Aroma is sweet and fruity with some very light funky notes. Flavor is sweet, almost tastes like splenda or something...odd. Some creaminess and light yeastiness. Not sure what to make of this one to be honest.

head: big
colour: amber/gold
smell: ale like, cigars, smokey , sour, bitter, malts, spelt
taste: bitter, little bit sour, malts, hops, wheats , grapes
not like a gueuze ...

Bottle. Pours a dark copper color with a medium white head. An odd sweet earthy caramel nose. The flavor is sweet caramel, some vanilla and some earthiness akin to wood. Nothing tart, and quite unnatural and chemical-like. Not my thing.
