Mklein818 (160), Etterbeek, Virginia, Belgium May 12, 2005 There’s a reason why commercial gueuze is popular. It’s yummy, that’s why! Yes this is syrupy, but it also is well balanced with acidity. I miss this stuff--damn hard to get in the USA. DanielBrown (1919), Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, England Dec 5, 2003 Updated: Dec 9, 2003This is delicious stuff, and is, rather controversially, my favourite gueuze. It's nicely sweet, fruity without being over the top, and has a sour back-drop, which propogates the ideal balance of refreshment and dryness. yalnikim (676), Wellington, New Zealand Feb 3, 2005 Tasted 03/02/2005. From 330ml bottle at Leuven bar, Wellington.
Pours caramel tan colour with strong carbonation and a small tight white head that releases a soft sour fruit bouquet. Taste is again dominated by the sour fruit with a light effervescent mouthfeel. Palate is clean and refreshing.
My guess is that this beer would not be trendy amongst beer snobs, but it really is a superbly flavoured thirst quencher on a hot day. Don’t be put off by the bar manu’s claim that this beer is like beer would have tasted 400 years ago, that’s utter rubbish. 21iceman40 (1671), north little rock, Arkansas, USA Jul 24, 2004 caramel color, wour candy apple aroma and flavor pretty damn good if you aske me cause candy apples rock haukur (671), Reykjavik, Iceland Aug 28, 2003 Nice aroma, reminded me of the timmerman gueuze, very much of a beer, has an ale feeling to it. Taste was very mild, with hints of apple.....
