UPDATED: JUN 7, 2010 Labeled as La Becasse. Dark yellow, thin white head. Citrus aroma, sweet lemony taste with a hint of sourness towards the end. Not very complex. 2.9. 1988 bottle courtesy of ygtbsm94, prior to the takeover. Murky yellow brown, scant head and lacing (wow!). Aroma of vinegar, lemon, dust, white pepper. Taste is grapefruit, healed band-aid. Sour and complex, with great character. InBev, what have you done to this beer??

There’s a reason why commercial gueuze is popular. It’s yummy, that’s why! Yes this is syrupy, but it also is well balanced with acidity. I miss this stuff--damn hard to get in the USA.

UPDATED: DEC 9, 2003 This is delicious stuff, and is, rather controversially, my favourite gueuze. It's nicely sweet, fruity without being over the top, and has a sour back-drop, which propogates the ideal balance of refreshment and dryness.

Tasted 03/02/2005. From 330ml bottle at Leuven bar, Wellington. Pours caramel tan colour with strong carbonation and a small tight white head that releases a soft sour fruit bouquet. Taste is again dominated by the sour fruit with a light effervescent mouthfeel. Palate is clean and refreshing. My guess is that this beer would not be trendy amongst beer snobs, but it really is a superbly flavoured thirst quencher on a hot day. Don’t be put off by the bar manu’s claim that this beer is like beer would have tasted 400 years ago, that’s utter rubbish.

Nice aroma, reminded me of the timmerman gueuze, very much of a beer, has an ale feeling to it. Taste was very mild, with hints of apple.....

This was my first geuze and I was surprised by the sugarry sweetness that spreads across the palate and lingers. There’s a more expected sour citric touch in the finish that lingers but is tempered by the sweetness.Sourness gets more noticeable as the beer opens. Oakiness in aroma and as a background flavor.
