jezmez68 (281), Chesterton, Indiana, USA Jun 1, 2008 25 cl bottle from Belgium via Dirk’s suitcase. Thanks! I guess I’m a little disappointed that they didn’t ante up a 33 cl bottle, it’s not like it’s an 8.5 - 9% ABV. My bottle actual said 5.5%, not 5.2 as shown here. Pours sort of an orangish/golden/with red hue. Head shows up and goes away. Tastes of sour green apples, carbonation, and white wine. This is my first gueuze - tasty. It appears that people on this site think there are better ones, but I enjoyed it, for as far as it went. A nice departure from a lot of the American micros I’ve been drinking lately.
tarjei (1300), Bryne, Norway Sep 19, 2008 25 cl bottle, bought in Oostende. Abv is 5,5%. Dark amber color, nice off-white head. Aroma is fruity/citric and sweet. Flavor is sweet and fruity with hints of sourness. Sweet malty aftertaste. BelgianBeerGal (983), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Aug 30, 2008 25cl bottle. Rather strange for a Gueze: way too sweet in the aroma and flavour. The sugary coating covers up everything else and drowned out most sour notes. Okay but just a much too simple gueze Borresteijn (588), Amstelveen, Netherlands Aug 19, 2008 Bottle 25cl. Brownish amber colour, off-white head. Aroma of fruits, sugar. Flavour is sweet, a little sour, caramel and fruits. yespr (6943), Copenhagen O, Denmark Aug 7, 2008 25 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a creamy off-white head. Citric and orange fruity aroma, seems sweet. Flavour is sweet and citric, smooth orange fruity flavour on top of this. Light woody too. Sulphorish dry and citric finish, mild wheaty esters too. Nightfall (312), Athens, Greece Jul 26, 2008 My first Lambic-geuze. Amber color, minimal head. Beautiful aromas of wine, fruit, spices. Fruity taste. Rather watery palate. Much better than I expected.
