3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 RoyceH (1129) - Hesperange, LUXEMBOURG - OCT 8, 2006
Bottle. Dark pinky-red with a thin off-white pinkish head. Cherry malty nose, trees, not offensive, sweetish. Moderately carbonated mouth, sweet cherry, woody, then a touch of sourness. Reminds me of sweet cherry sweets I ate as a child, and black forest gateaux. Not much palate, what there is is a bit woody. Slightly sour towards the end. All in all, well rounded, not bold enough for my liking though. Bit ’flimsy’
2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 JoeinEscazú (1120) - San Jose, COSTA RICA - JUN 22, 2007
25 cL bottle, recently re-marketed in Belgium as "Kriek Classique." Some BS on the label about traditional recipe, blah blah. Pours pinkish-red with a light pink head. Black cherry sour candy aroma. There is a slight tartness to the cherry flavor, which is mildly sweet but not cloying like a soda pop. The result is refreshing. But that’s the only dimension to this beer, which offers no truly beery elements. No funkiness, no bitterness, etc. Pretty damned boring.

Bottle. Dark as hell in here so can’t really give much notes on appearance. Smells very tart and overly cherry-fied but the taste isn’t too bad. Cherry cherry cherry all over the place. Thought it was ok.
Pours clear and golden amber with a light pink head. Dry sulphorish cherry aroma. Flavour is dry cherry with a light citric note. Dry cherry finish. Simple yet seems authentic. Mild citric note too.

Cherry dominates aroma. Pours a lovely reddish brown with a thick head. Quite sweet, cherry flavour is the major standout. No hops to speak of, a sipping beer, kind of tastes like a wine.
