Very sweet for a kriek. Good as an introduction beer for the style - popular with girls (compared to other lambic)

Belgium’s best selling kriek, but unfortunately also a product which has not much in common with the real kriek. The taste is too sweet and too sticky. This is a pity, as the Belle Vue base lambik is of very high quality, but blended with other beers to produce most of their beers, including this kriek. Sugar has obviously been added to please the consumers of the coca-cola generation, but this takes away all the characteristics of a real kriek which should be sour, acidic and uncompromisingly refreshing. For real krieks, try Girardin, Cantilon or 3 Fonteinen, to name but a few.

UPDATED: MAR 13, 2005 Interesting beer that could easily pass for something else. Smalles like a cough drop and tastes about the same...if it wasn’t for the alcohol in it, I’d try and use it to sooth my throat. That said, for special occassions this might not be half bad...it’s quite expensive in Canada (but what isn’t?) but I must say I was quite intrigued.

I love the swish of it when it hits the tongue. Pleasant after taste.

This is one of the worst examples of Lambic. It is a well brewed beer that is one of the world’s best lambics. Unfortunatley this is only true if you drink it directly from one of the aging barrels at the brewery. It is filtered then heavily sweetened before bottling. I actually carried a glass up from the cellars and drank it side by side with the botlled version. No comparison. The bottled was undrinkable for a traditional lambic. Bottom line, too sweet.

Great beer. Most interesting fruity beverage that actually maintains its beer characterisitcs, and is not just an alco-malt. Had it in france under the La Bécasse alias.

I tried this because I like to try new things. It was quite pleasant and refreshing but not really my cup of tea. I’d prefer a nice dry red wine. It is hard to rate as a beer, it tastes quite nice and I enjoyed it but likely wouldn’t bother with it again.

Not my favorite of lambics, but it was my first. Decent in flavor and nose, a little dry. Every bottle I buy seems to have a noticeable amount of sediment at the bottom.

Very flavorful for a fruit beer. It has a nice cherry flavor but you can still tell it is a beer. It has a medium red color. Just cant drink too many at one time.

The marmite beer - like it or loathe it! I like the cherry flavour and aftertones. Colour and body is all there.
