3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 gmonroe10 (175) - NETHERLANDS - JUN 9, 2008
Tap in cafe in Amersfort market. Pours a carbonated red, large head with a pink hue that quickly dissipates. Cherry aroma, and taste is cherry, but not as fruity as a rose beer. Fine, but nothing you’d want to have too many of.

Bottle brown, 300 ml, alc 5,1 percent abv, min 8,5 percente of cherry juice, bought in Czech Republic, Trinec, Hypernova,
Appearance pours intensive, dark red, cherry and strawberry like body colour with clear body texture, carbonation of the body is moderate, head is initially huge, quite thick, compact, frothy and regular in texture, slowly decreasing to moderate leaving nice lacing, head is reddish pink, cherry like in colour,
Aroma strong aroma of natural refreshing cherry juice, slightly spiced up by leavy hoppyness and gentle notes of alcohol, no sourness and quite dominating mellow yeasty nose giving the impression of whipped cream, candid sugar, vanilla, very inviting and easy to assess,
Flavour front is quite mild, soft, slightly accidic and slightly sweet, generally the most neutral Lambic Kriek I ve tasted so far, not too much accidic, not tart and not overly sweet, very moderate, so, so, of course yeasty with moderate cherry influence, finish duration is moderate,
Palate body is light, texture is rather watter, carbonation on palate is soft, finish feel is slightly astringent

bottle from small restaurant in Brussels. Pours clear wine red with medium foamy head. Lots of lacing. Aroma is sweet fruits with some tart. Not a lot acidic. Taste is sweet fruits, slight tart and acidic. Much like the Mort Subite kriek. Too sweet to be called a kriek.

Bottle. Pours a clear coppery red colour with a fluffy pinkish head that lasts a little while. Cherries are noticeable on the nose but there are also strong hints of malt, caramel and oak. Flavour is mildly tart and has notes of cherries, malt, sherbet, mineral and berries. Light bodied with high carbonation and a sweet, dry finish that lingers. Overall this is quite well balanced but isn’t particularly impressive; it seems like all the elements are muted in some way and it also verges on being too sweet. Still drinkable though.

Bottle, very cold (about 4C). Dirty red with a large pink head. Aroma of cherry variety children’s medication, wheaty mustiness. Taste is not hugely sweet this cold with some cherry flavour - doesn’t taste anything like as artificial as it smells. There’s a little lambic buried here - you can just feel the acidity and there’s a teensy bit of funkiness - but mostly it’s seems like a slightly adult twist on a sweet drink in the same way as a squash and bitters. Dry finish is quite woody. Refreshing.

375mL bottle, pours reddish pink. Aroma of sweet fruits, slight tartness which feels more subdued now that it was upon bottling (several years ago?). Flavour of sweet strawberry and cherry, with almost no sourness and a cloying sweetness. Too much sweetness here.

From a bottle. Belle-Vue Kriekenlambic Classique. Dark rose color with thin head. Cherry but not too overpowering. Light body with bit of sweetness. Not too exciting but good aroma and good to look at.

Questo tipo di kriek, sono sempre molto invitanti con un bell’aspetto e un buon aroma, poi però lasciano a desiderare...
