Ungstrup (11713), Frederiksberg, Denmark Mar 14, 2004 [Vintage 1999 at Grote Dorst 2004] The aroma is sweet and sour with notes of oranges. The color is a hazy orange and it has a small head. The flavor sour with notes of the wild fermentation, oranges, and dry wood. Papsoe (11076), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 29, 2005 (Bottle 75 cl) Vintage 1993. Golden and very unclear - almost impure. Extreme sediment inside. Very vinegary but without the subtle and sophisticated flavours found in the best, traditional gueuzes. 150602 omhper (10950), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 16, 2005 Updated: May 2, 2005Bottled. Cloudy orange. Aroma of barnyard and lemon juice. Very acidic with clean, rounded mouthfeel. There’s sweet malt beneath the powerful acidity. Very flavourful, but not as complex and lively in mouthfeel as the best gueuzes I’ve had. yespr (7831), Copenhagen O, Denmark Feb 24, 2007 75 cL bottle (sample), 1999 vintage. Pours orange. Aroma and taste is citric and vinegar. Extreme sour into the finish. But it’s great, really great Oakes (7032), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jul 8, 2003 1999 bottling. Cloudy orange-amber. Cheesy, tangy gueuze aroma...yeah, this is going to be good. Rich, earthy, tart depths of passion fruit, lemon, hay and leather. Huge complexity - a gueuze that shows me new things. At this stage of aging, a classic.
