(750ml Bottle, 1999 vintage) Pours a lightly hazy orange body with a spare ring of white bubbles. A complex gueuze aroma of grapefruit, lemon, vinegar, apple, earthiness, musty, and white grapes. The flavor smacks you in the face with the intensity of the tartness that after once taste makes your taste buds stand up for attention like basic training solders for their drill sergeant. The tartness lingers even after several minutes in between sips allowing you to savor the magical experience endured. An absolutely fantastic brew at a unbelievable tasting that I will certainly not forget.

UPDATED: JUN 21, 2009 1999 bottling. Cloudy orange-amber. Cheesy, tangy gueuze aroma...yeah, this is going to be good. Rich, earthy, tart depths of passion fruit, lemon, hay and leather. Huge complexity - a gueuze that shows me new things. At this stage of aging, a classic.
Belle Vue Fond Gueuze 1988. Muddy tan/light brown colour. Light funk, cheese and phenols on the nose. Very earthy palate. Flat. Complex and tart with a long finish. This is extra dry and deliciously dusty. 2-7-8-5-18 = 4.0

75cl bottle at Heeren van Liederkerke. 1999 bottle no. 05164. Orange/gold with lasting beige head. Bit of musty age on aroma. That is quite sour. The age has taken a certain edge off it, but it does have malt vinegar notes on the end. Too sour on end. Nice up front farmyard, but way too much vinegar.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2008 Bottle, 75cl corked, at Plan B, Copenhagen. Thx to MiP. An orange, unclear beer with a minimal white head. Funky nose with horseblanket and citrus. Citrus, mostly lemon, dominates the flavor, tart and funky, medium mouthfeel, very astringent. Very long lemony finish. A gorgeous beer, intensely sour and citric, a real palate cleanser. RAting: 8-4-8-4-17-4.1. (080913)
Bottled at RBESG-06, GTN. (1999 vintage, thx Jacob.) Hazy, orange beer with some white bubbles around the rim. Sourness, yeast, cellar, apples, grass and citrus in the aroma. The flavor is wonderful, intensely sour, with citrus, apples, grass and lemon. Really palate-cleansing. Vauw! It kicks you in your mouth and throat. Amazing! Almost too much. (060826)

UPDATED: APR 2, 2009 [Vintage 1999] Hazy amber with a large off white head. Typical sour barnyard aroma along with lacto, wood, leather, peaches and grapefruit. Barnyardy flavor with very sour lacto notes along with leather, wood barnyard and sour lemons. All sorts of things going on here. Freaking sour stuff. I simply love this!
